Damon (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 6th July 2002, 00:07

Is this any good to anyone ?

Just seen a laptop for less than £270 at http://www.simply.co.uk/

Click on "PCs" then "Laptop / Notebook PCs" and arrange order by price(ascending).

Good luck !!!

Just had a look at this one and it seems to be another pricing error job. If you look further down the list of Notebook PC`s , the Toshiba Sat Pro 4600 is there again but with a (very) slightly different spec , different stock and manufacturers code and a very different price - £885 plus vat (£1039).
Having said all that , although the £229 plus vat Tosh shows as not in stock on the list , if you click on it the item page shows in stock and you can order it.
I have just done this and got a `confirmation` email - not very committal tho , just copy of order and note saying confirmation will be sent when order has been processed. We shall see.

I seem to recall Simply haven`t honoured price cock ups in the past, but let us know how you get on : you neve rknow, they may offer it to you at a reduced price.

This smacls of the Kodak scenario, where it wasn`t immediately obvious that the £100 DX3700 was a bargain or not.

Clearly a laptop for £270 is a mistake and could not be construed as a bargain. However, for your sake I hope they come through with it : could be the result of the decade :-)

Taken from Simply`s Terms and Conditions.
There`s probably a couple of points there they can get you on.
Still, it`s very tempting.

3.1 The price shall be that on the Seller’s current list price or as otherwise agreed in writing by the Seller and the Buyer should confirm prices (including any promotional prices and special offers) at the time of ordering. All special offers are strictly subject to availability.
3.2 The Seller reserves the right to revise prices prior to despatch of Goods to reflect any indirect or direct increase in costs to the Seller but if the price has been paid in full prior to despatch no price revision may take place without the prior written agreement of the Buyer.
3.3 All prices are exclusive of VAT and charges for packing, postage and carriage (plus VAT) shall be paid in addition.
3.4 [Website pricing may differ to sales literature pricing.]

I don`t hold out a great deal of hope, but I have had to order one!
I would have kicked myself if I had not, and the price was honoured!
Fingers crossed until tomorrow morning.

Ordered a couple myself... got a vague confirmation e-mail, but I don`t hold out much hope - has anyone heard anything from Simply yet?

"Ordered a couple myself......."
That`s the sort of thing that will kill any chance of getting this................It`s now probably dead in the water, why do you HAVE to be so greedy???!!!
