Thanks for visiting MildMan, sorry it`s not for you. Unfortunately, I only have a finite amount of time and resources, and I`ve only been working on it for a few months, inputing a couple of hours a week.
I am currently working on other articles on issues such as Fair Trade, Sweatshops, the priorities of Pharmasuetical companies, and many others, and if it hadn`t been for the war, I would have uploaded them by now. Personally, I consider them all valuable/life changing issues, and that includes the serious articles I have written so far: Nestle`s compensation claim against the Ethiopian Government, for example. The people involved in that campaign forced Nestle to back down on their claim, which I think is a very positive thing.
The only reason I post my URL is to increase exposure, but comments are always welcome.

I was at a smaller stop the war demo this lunchtime, and there were a couple of mentalists shouting some tabloid style pro-war crap. I actually felt sorry for them.

RE: `Porn` sacking causes anguish
I heard of a case where a guy was sacked for downloading porn at work - the case was eventually dismissed, as he claimed he had an addiction to porn, and should therefore be treated as any other employee with an addiction, eg alcoholism or drug addiction. The company had to re appoint him and support him through his addiction.
Anyway - if he hasn`t been downloading porn, he can proove it. Assuming that the company uses a Proxy, he`ll have to log into the proxy server to gain access to the internet (on top of having to log into windows). The company will have internet usage logs, firewall logs, proxy logs, Win 2000 server security logs, containing all the information required to trace exactly when the images were downloaded. If he can prove that he was not at his desk at those times (meetings etc), or a password other than his own was used to access the internet (proxy), and so on, there should be no issue.
If he is innocent - it should be very easy to prove it. But it`ll mean a lot of hassle for the company (sod `em). I`d advise that he demands the company look at the logs etc.

NEVER reply to spam email, and NEVER click on those "click here to unsubscribe me" links in spam - it only let`s the senders know that your email address is in fact active, so they can send you more, and sell your email address onto others who spam.
Most email addresses used by spamers are either collected by spiders which harvest them from the internet (working much like Google`s indexing bot, except they collect email addresses from pages as opposed to the pages themselves), or created by programs which produce random addresses from combinations of keywords, peoples` names and numbers.

As I said, I wasn`t having a dig, I wasn`t assuming that you don`t donate just from your comments (why would I? I don`t know you, and you haven`t, to my knowledge, previously given any firm indication as to whether you do or don`t), and I certainly don`t expect anyone to justify how much and to whom they donate. I was just interested in how many people that continualy say "charity starts at home" actually believe it, and act upon it (voluntarily aid - not through tax).
Many people say "charity starts at home", and "we have our own problems with the homeless", then usually ignore the homeless they see in the street (whilst quickening their pace and clutching any change in their pocket to prevent it from rattling/jangling/insert suitable onomatopoeia), pretending they haven`t seen them. I know a lot of people who unfortunately do exactly this.

Lol, nice reply 42%er mate. I actually took the guy to the butty shop and told him to order the sandwich he wanted. But, that`s the easy answer to get out of the hypothetical situation.
Well, I would obviously be a little gutted if that happened - I don`t think it`d stand up in court though. But I certainly wouldn`t then tar every homeless person with the same brush, and would still want to help.

No offence taken mate.
I`m just trying to point out that it`s easy for us to sit in our comfortable environment and judge others when we can`t even begin to understand their previous circumstances.
Admittedly, suing for £30k is somewhat excessive, but I don`t think it`s any reason to view every asylum seeker as a leech, which unfortunately many people do. They see the bad press that a minority receive, and think the same about ALL asylum seekers.
I`ve spoken to some asylum seekers, and some of their stories are harrowing. I read an account of a teenager a couple of years ago, who witnessed her mother being gang raped by a group of soldiers, followed by her father and brother being tortured and shot, simply for their beliefs. Upon arriving in the UK, she received help from the government, and phlegm from us citizens. How hospitable of us. No pun intended.
I certainly cannot even begin to contemplate what it`s actually been like for some of these people and the horrific things they have been through.
Many may think me sanctimonious, but I`m genuinely happy to help where I can. As I said, I feel, in the privileged position that I am (although I don`t get paid much cannot afford to own a house, I live far more comfortably than many unfortunate people in this world can possibly imagine), a certain responsibility to help others who desperately need it. Whether that be by buying the homeless guy on the corner of my road a bacon butty and a brew and talking to him, or by helping asylum seekers through my tax money.
And yes, I understand that much needs to be done in this country, but many people tend to ignore those issues too. With all honesty, how many of you who proclaim, "Charity starts at home" buy the Big Issue, for example?

And my point is that, yes, although we do have to pay for these services, at least we have them. At least we live comfortably. A majority of us are in a highly privileged position, and I think we have a resposibility to help others, since we (as a society) have exploited so many others in order to get to this position in the first place.

Because of course, people of this country are SO hard done by. Oh woe are we... clean running water, sanitation, a plentiful supply of food, jobs, democracy, entertainment, education - s***, we`re SO oppressed. How can we possibly even contemplate helping others while we`re in this heinous situation?
Don`t tell me you wouldn`t do exactly the same if you were in their position - most people will do pretty much anything to better themselves, privileged or not.

Short answer: If you only have a name, it`d be rather difficult, but possible. If you had an idea of location, etc. it`d make it somewhat easier. There are online phonebooks (ie BT), postcode locators etc. If you have the IP address, you can get the information from the users ISP, unless they have surfed via an anonymous proxy.
But yes, it would be possible - probably very difficult and time consuming, but possible to find out more about the person just from a name.
