Is there a doctor in the house?

Trying to find out a problem I had as a child. No records available and those who knew have since died.

In early 80's I got referred to 'Ear, Nose, Eye clinic` because I apparently had something up with my nose.

Remember Doctor mentioning something about holes either side of the inside of my nose, not sure if they were there or they were missing.

Doctor said he would have to make a cut across the bridge of my nose to fix it. (this is at his desk too)

Anyway Doctor got these four very long and thin threaded rods, dipped them in anaesthetic and screwed two up each nostril.

After 10 minutes in the waiting room with these things sticking out my nose, he tried to cut across my nose, but because I could feel it my mum stopped him.

Whatever he was trying to do never got done.

Anyone any ideas????????????????

RE: What details are required to take money from your bank account using a debit card online???????

Quote:
i thought it was the name of the account holder or the name as it appears on the card

So did I

But now i find that as long as the Card Number and 3 Digit Security Code are correct, any name can be used.

What details are required to take money from your bank account using a debit card online???????

i always thought it was:-

Your name

Your Card Number

Your 3 Digit security code

But it is actually:-

Anyones name

Your Card Number

Your 3 Digit security code

Need the web address for any site with that unclickable button on it.

The button that moves away from your cursor as you try to press it.

Sad I know, but it`s for a joke!

RE: 12 year old next door drunk, having a party, no parents at home and police cant do a thing

In all fairness to the police, their hands are tied and I understand this.

They can do something if the `party` spills out into the street or backyard `cause then it`s `breach of the peace`.

And yes i did call back later, lied and said it had spilled out into the backyard. Unfortunately, it was saturday night and they were tied up dealing with drunken yobs. Most likely the parents of these kids!!! Officers would come round when available.

Everything stopped about 2.30am and I went to sleep so don`t know if police did come or not.

On another note, the guy who lives next door is the brother to one of the biggest drug dealers around here and holds a lot of stuff for him. I`ld have thought the police would have taken any opportunity they could to get a look inside that house.

12 year old next door drunk, having a party, no parents at home and police cant do a thing

Yep, phoned police and they cant do a thing unless they go outside the house.

It`s now 1.45am, these kids are drinking, smoking, playing their music top note and nothing can be done.

RE: King Kong 2 disc special edition - £3.99 @ CDWow...

I Haven`t got mine yet either.

I also haven`t got a lot of DVDs from Amazon Market sellers I ordered weeks ago.

One arrived today from Caimen, usually a week to arrive, this one took 3 weeks.

All my late ones are from non UK sellers.

RE: Just got parking ticket - I don`t think it justified - What do you think?

I was there only 10 minutes before I got the ticket, but I intended to stay all day as that entire area is private parking for all the shops, of which one is where I work.

Funny enough, the Clio shouldn`t have been there as it didn`t belong to any employee from any of the shops and was parked where I usually park.

Only the land I coloured green is the section no one is sure who owns. The council don`t maintain it, they only maintain the road surface up to the green section. All enquiries to the council have drawn a blank. They wont say they don`t own it but, can`t tell us who does. The shops don`t maintain it because they don`t think it belongs to them.

Because no one knew who owned the piece of land, the traffic warden decided the council owned it and that any parking restrictions applied from the yellow line up to where the private land begins.

She had already booked me for obstruction when I went to my car but, when confronted, kept switching from that to parking on a yellow line.

I don`t think she was sure herself.

RE: Just got parking ticket - I don`t think it justified - What do you think?

Now that`s a new one on me!!!

I`ll remember that in future, thanks.

Guess i`ll pay and learn from it then!

As you`re in the know, is `obstructing` the same as `blocking`.

A car did get past as she was writing the ticket and the other car in the picture only had to do a `U-turn` to get past.

Quote:
you are causing an obstruction!

If I`m on private land, what has it got to do with traffic wardens?

Just got parking ticket - I don`t think it justified - What do you think?

Here`s where I parked

- Everything to the left of the green is Council Highway
- Everything to the right of the green is private land
- No one knows who owns the land in green but the traffic warden insisted it belonged to the council.

Traffic warden said I was causing an obstruction to vehicles wanting to get on and off the private land even though they could get past as one did while she was writing the ticket.

Should I pay or appeal?

Bubble - Bundle with Thomas & Friends Interactive DVD Software - Mispriced

Amazon have this at £59.99 (see here for details)

Woolworths have it on offer at £29.99 but, the bundle with the Thomas Sofware has been mispriced at £8.49 (instore, don`t know about online.)

Seems whoever priced it thought they was pricing just the software and didn`t know the console was also included. The duffer!!!!!!

A question about wages

OK

My son works in a store that had a major refit.

He usually works days but, was asked if during the refit he could work nights to allow contractors to work through the night.

He agreed.

His wage usually came out of store budget but, during the refit, it came from the refit project budget.

The money allowed for his wage out of the project budget was for 12 hours a day for 4 weeks. That's working 6pm - 6 am every day for 4 weeks.

So, he had to make himself available for that time slot for 4 weeks.

He was instructed by his manager that during the refit he must leave the building when the contractors leave. For security reasons one person is not allowed on premises on their own.

During the 4 weeks, the contractors finished at different times. Anything from 10pm to 5am in the morning, so my son had to leave at the same times.

However, the contractors got paid up to 6am as their money came out of project budget and they finished the work on time.

My son only got paid for the time he was there even though he made himself available for the full 12 hours, at much disruption to his family life I might add.

So, my question is, should he accept this or, take it further and try to get payment for the time he made himself available?

RE: British legal system..... a farce!

IMO What you should do is get together with some mates and start rumours around town that you`ve come into a lot of money. Millions in fact!

It wont be long before your ex is banging down your door for a paternity test.

I take it she`s a money grabbing slapper who was up the duff when she f***ed off with someone else she was seeing behind your back!

Oh sorry, that`s my ex!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: NTL 1Mbit @ £9.99 Per Month for a Year

NTL 1 Meg now unlimited !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF

I was given the option of upgrading to 1 Meg in Sept `05.

I turned it down because NTL stated:-

"To enable us to offer this super-fast service for the same price, we will be introducing a usage allowance of 3GB per month."

I have 300k broadband and their phone.

Never been informed that 1 Meg is now unlimited !

RE: Nicked for speeding....again....

I wouldn`t be suprised if the OP was made to pay.

I was stopped a few years ago for having no Road Tax.

The officer who stopped me wrote down the wrong road.

Great I thought, the road he wrote down didn`t even exist and that was my way out.

It ended up going to Court.

First I was sent to the wrong Court in another town.

I appealed and went to Court again and, even though I had someone with me from the Council to state that the road didn`t exist on the date I was pulled, I lost and ended up paying costs too.

Although I was in the wrong at the time, in Court I was technically fined for having no Road Tax on a non-existant road.

To top it all off, the papers I received to inform me I had lost my appeal were signed and dated two weeks before the appeal was even heard.

Some you win, some you are just destined not to win, not ever, no matter what you do.

But it gets a laugh evey time I churn it out :-)
