RE: What TV series would you like to see released on DVD ?

How the hell do you remember 1974? You couldn`t even have been a twinkle in your Dad`s eye

Brock Landers - get a life.

Btw-weren`t you in a 60`s show as the "Man of Steel" or something similar?

RE: Sevenoaks Sound & Vision. What`s your view?

Andrew, fraid so. For a shop that is going for essentially the same market as Richer sounds and Global Hi-Fi, it really needs to look more approachable, ditch the shirt and ties for some smart branded shirts instead, put prices on the window displays, even fill them with bigger displays so you can`t see the staff lurking with grim expressions. Just my two pence worth.

Readmenow-I forgot about Global, I stopped going in there when I was asked on average every 30 seconds if I needed help, I got fed up of saying no.

RE: Sevenoaks Sound & Vision. What`s your view?

Can`t argue with that, the Richer Sounds is great, little bit cramped if it`s busy, but nice and friendly. Sevenoaks looks nice but that`s the place`s problem, it looks too expensive for your everyday separates/DVD buyer.

RE: DVD Reviewers fighting cancer ! PLEASE READ

Just out of interest, how do you get a temperature reading of your chip?

RE: DVD Reviewers fighting cancer ! PLEASE READ

Just getting this back to the top.

P.S. Mine are taking between 7 hrs and 16 hours. Btw - I seem to have a problem with mine actually finishing one particular target, called something like Oxide dismutase? it`s tried twice now inbetween finishing other targets, and has given up a d/l a new one each time after about 8 hrs. Anyone else had this?

RE: One more time!!!!!!!! Get on your feet for the mighty Reds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Winning by an own goal???????

Sums the cheeky scousers up;)

RE: Sevenoaks Sound & Vision. What`s your view?

Up in Newcastle, the Sevenoaks shop is just around the corner from Richer Sounds, so I usually set off with the intention of going to both of them. I go to Richer Sounds, have a browse unpressured, look in the windows where everything has a price on etc., you know the type of thing.
Then I go to Sevenoaks which has a few pricey looking systems in the window without prices, about 3 staff in shirts and ties standing inside looking as if they`ll pounce and grill you into submission as soon as you set foot inside. The only time I ever went in was when I could see they were all busy. Definitely too formal for casual browsing. Sorry:)

RE: Phillips 701: Is ANYONE going to help me or is this beyond redemption????

Ah stop taking yourself so seriously Roger. Sanctimonious git.

RE: Phillips 701: Is ANYONE going to help me or is this beyond redemption????

As Lard would say "Shtrike a light"

READ ALLAN VERTH`S FAQ - It`s halfway down the page of topic posts in this very forum right now. Hard to find I know, under something like "ALL PHILLIPS DVD FAQ- MULTI REGION HACK". Cunning eh?

RE: philips hacked but problems

Firstly, sorry - I wasn`t aware that opinions had to be asked for on bulletin boards. Next time I`ll send you an email before I wipe my arse ok?

Secondly, I only used one. And wondering how I manage to spell correctly, whilst misspelling vocabulary is a nice touch.

Thirdly, it`s called real life. Do you watch TV or read books at all? Unless you stick solely to the costume dramas then you must surely come across naughty words.

To everyone out there - Yeah I know I should`ve let it drop, but I`m not in the mood to deal with sanctimonious ninnies.

RE: philips hacked but problems

Oh-and Allan, If I find out you`re a makem I`ll retract all of the above.

RE: philips hacked but problems

To Colin B, and Orac,

A - If wasn`t for Allen then you wouldn`t have had the One for All hack in the first place, plus he only suggested that you upgrade your TV in an effort to solve your problem, don`t take offence so damn easily! and;

B - How on Earth do you two get by day-to-day? In some big fluffy sealed box that protects you from nasty angry men and swear words? f*** off!

RE: what do i need for remote control hack on my philips?????????????

Ah bugger,

The hack using the Phillips remote only doesn`t work on my 711, firmware 7.03. Looks like I`ll have to go for the RC6 method after all. Pessimistic soul that I am, I doubt that`ll work either.

RE: Tell me what you use or ill smack you.

Yeah, I use my TV too. Much better than, say, my fridge.

RE: what do i need for remote control hack on my philips?????????????

Thanks a lot!

That clears that up, I was getting a little confused about the lock-out thing, especially as it seemed you only have to do this once. Just to check, will it work with firmware 7.03?

RE: thanx for the help NOT!!

I have a Phillips player, and DVD Debate was absolutely no help whatsoever.

Just thought I`d add that :)

RE: what do i need for remote control hack on my philips?????????????

Ok, I need to know:

If the hack shown in this thread works, why use the One-for-all hack? this seems much easier.

Also-is there a risk of locking up my player altogether if I try it and it doesn`t work?

RE: Phillips 711 multi-region hack

Ah bugger, the VCR button method doesn`t work either. Thanks anyhow, next question is: if this remote didn`t do anything, why will the other remote actually activate the input sequence? I`d have thought that instructing it to send out a code was the same on any of the remotes?

RE: Firmware version?

Phillips DVD711. Hope you can help-thanks.

Firmware version?

How do you tell what version of firmware your DVD is running?

Phillips 711 multi-region hack

I have a One for all remote control 7540, which does not have a DVD button, but does have an AUX option. However, even after entering the code in the RC6 hack onto the AUX option, the DVD doesn`t respond to the remote in any way. Does this mean that only the one-for-all`s with the DVD button actually works? If so, I may as well go for a chip which will cost roughly the same price as a remote!
