Purchase of French DVD player

Advice please. Is it possible to buy a DVD player in France and use it in the UK, or are the tv settings different (Pal/Ntsc etc.) I am going across soon and wondered whether it was an option??? Thanks

Cordless Headphones - what to buy

Apologies if this is not the right forum, but I am looking to buy a set of cordless headphones, can anyone recommend any. I am looking at the Philips SB Hc8900?? which apparently have virtual surroundsound but any advice appreciated thanks

Difference btwn RGB - CVBS - SVideo

I have four scarts on my Philips tv, two are RGB, and two are CVBS only. I gather that the RGB is the best, but what does `CVBS only` mean and what effect does it have if I connect to it, what do I lose?
Similarly on the side/fron is a s-video input (4 pin) is this the best option for a camcorder, or do I continue to plug it into the white/red/yellow inputs alongside it? thanks, `Kev the Novice`

Philips pw9616 feedback

On a recent separate posting I was asked for opinion on my 28" 9616 which I have recently bought, and have hesitated because it replaced a 14yr. Toshiba! and my new kit is the total of my `home cinema` experience!!! hence I have little to compare it with but still here goes...
I bought the tv based on researching as many reviews as possible and also noting several awards (EISA-and individual magazines) and without a doubt I am very pleased with the purchase, particularly general picture quality and sound. The wireless speakers are also a great benefit because I would have difficulty with discretely hardwiring rear speakers.

I`ve seen comments about 100hz v. 50hz. and digital scan etc etc and about the only thing I would mention is that on some sporting events, (particularly football) in the long-distance (extremes of the pitch) the grassed areas seem a bit `painted` ,although whenever viewing closer action the detail is fine. All in all I do not consider it a problem to distract from the overall quality of the set, and there seem to be ample tweeks/adjustments to picture/sound quality. As such, there are many combinations and I am not sure if I have mastered it yet. Similarly, I don`t think that I have mastered the four scart(twoRGB) and front S-video connection to full potential yet, although with advice received on this board I am still trying.
So all in all, we are all very pleased with the set, (even the wife,) and it has provided a brilliant one-stop entry to home cinema for us, and we now wonder why we waited so long!!!!

Got the kit at last..but how the heck to connect it..help please!!!

I`ve finally persuaded the wife that we cannot live without dvd and have got a philips 9616 dolby digital tv, pioneer 636dvd, panasonic nv760 vcr and pace sky digibox.
The tv has four scarts, (two RGB?) everything else has two scart connectors, but what scarts should go where, between what or via what else before the tv.
I can only think of needing to connect the sky to the vcr, before the tv? but any advice or pointing towards a website for novices would be most appreciated, thanks
