RE: ALIEN vs PREDATOR R1 OR R2

surely niether..... it sucks

Ultimate Matrix Collection

Does anyone know if the version of the Matrix in the Ultimate Matrix boxset is the cut version or not? The BBFC site seems to suggest it is but it looks like the film hasn`t been resubmitted at all.

I emailed the BBFC about The Matrix about a year ago, and I was told that if the film was resubmitted then, it would probably pass uncut and still be 15.....

Indy Boxset - Temple of Doom cut? R2 vs. R1/4

does anyone know if `Temple of Doom` is cut in the R2 boxset, but uncut in either R1 or R4? Xmas is coming and it`s on my list - just want to know which version to get...

RE: Matrix Reloaded - Who`s that boy??

Check out the animatrix for the backstory

RE: Star Wars on dvd??? maybe?

for those wanting the originals, i looks like MovieShop are going to be selling a new version of the original Star Wars trilogy.

I`m guessing it`s better than the version they have of the original trilogy already up there - anyone know any more?

RE: Who bought The Animatrix?

It`s def the same kid as the same actor, Clayton Watson, is listed as the kid in Matrix Reloaded and Kids story. That`s kind of the point of it....

I certainly felt when i saw reloaded first (i hadn`t seen any of the animatrix) that it was perhaps just bad writing that you didn`t see what happened to the osiris (or even the machines drilling right at the end). Final flight should have been the first section of Reloaded - not a separate short.

And the relationship between neo and the kid in the movie is odd, given that the kid is a new character thats been introduced between movies. When you see the animatrix, it makes sense, but i wished i`d seen these b4.

Also - did anyone think that the machines were kind of sympathetic in Second Renaissance? It`s kind of an odd way to go, as now i`ll look at the matrix and think humans are the bad guys, because according to Second Renaissance, we are.....

RE: Neon Genesis Evangelion

Cheers - i may do that.

I`ve just been informed that my existing set is actually a bootleg (that`d explain the sub £20 price!). Those crafty pirates - it`s a damn good version, though with some curiously interpretive english subs.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Does anyone know if there is a DVD that contains the final 2 episodes of the series (eps 25+26) plus the End of Evangelion movie? I have a DVD set of the series (Japanese I guess) but it only goes up to ep 24. I`d quite like to have both endings to the series, but without having to fork out for 2 seperate DVD`s if poss.

I don`t care what language the audio is in, as long as it has English subs.

RE: Been thinking of buying `Taken`! Should I?

DO NOT DO IT!!!!!! Under any circumstances. It`s like 15 hours of `Dreamcatcher`, 15 hours you will never get back. And as for the voice over - utterly pointless, what is actually said adds nothing to the slowly unfolding narrative of unparalelled banality that is `Taken`.

RE: RGB / S-Video Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fyi - i used s-video for my dvd player, on my Panasonic POS tv (`piece of s**t`), and there is no difference between s-video and composite. ho hum...

RE: Will they relsease a Batman Special Edition

According to the bbfc website (www.bbfc.co.uk/) `Batman & Robin` was passed uncut, but the previous movie `Batman Forever` was cut for cinema release by 1min 38secs. Although it lists no cuts for the video release, only the cut version could have been submitted to them for video release.

RE: RGB / S-Video Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cheers chaps - guess i`ll go for s-video, as it frees up the rgb scart for cable digibox.

Are there any AV amps that can process RGB signals? That would save a lot of hassle in the future......

RGB / S-Video Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I`ve recently aquired a Yamaha AV amp, and i am currently enjoying 5.1 sound on dvds and surround from television & video. But the big issue is that the amp only processes composite video, so i am trying to re-route the video signals directly into my TV.

I always had my DVD going into my TV`s Scart 1 socket which supported RGB, and i can really notice the difference now it is only composite through the amp. I also now have a cable tv decoder, which also has an RGB option, and looks much better through the RGB socket. So problem....

If i route the DVD video signal through the S-video socket in the TV, will i have a better picture than a compsoite signal? And how does it compare to RGB? I know RGB is supposed to be better, but i just wondered if anyone could tell me in their experience if they can notice the difference between RGB and S-Video?

RE: Best site to buy STAR WARS movies on DVD

Just recieved Star Wars & Empire from a site mentioned elsewhere in this forum, and I`m, pretty impressed with the quality. I got the versions that Chris Gould has posted photo`s of earlier (ie. NOT the 5 star editions), and the quaility is much better than VHS - for £12 delivered for both it`s a bargain, esp. seeing as they won`t get official releases for what, another 3-5 years.

Only query - the rear channels of the 5.1 audio sounded more like a uniform rear surround channel, as opposed to distinct left & right channels. A god example of this is at the end of Star Wars, when the death star is blown up. I remember seeing the special edition in the cinema, and the blast wave went down one side of the cinema - on this dvd it starst off from one speaker at the front and is then heard on both rear channels. Does anyone who has these have an opinion?

Best site to buy STAR WARS movies on DVD

I may be blind but i can find it on this forum. Where is the best place to buy the original Star Wars movies (ep IV - VI) on DVD? NOT the 5 star collection, but the single edition SE releases, as i hear they are better...

Any help much appreciated....

RE: Humphrey Bogart DVDs - which ones to get?

R2 Big Sleep has nothing in terms of extras as far as i can remember, but, as i said before, the R1 DVD has the well known 1946 version of the film, as well as the rarely seen 1945 version, plus a doc on these 2 cuts.

The earlier version isn`t anywhere near as good as the `46 version, but a great insight into the movies developement. The finished film is an absolute classic.

RE: Humphrey Bogart DVDs - which ones to get?

Sounds like the excellent `The Big Sleep`, Martha Vickers plays Carmen Sternwood, daughter of the General who hires Bogart`s Marlowe. I`d recommend the R1 release, as it contains the 1946 film, and and earlier 1945 cut of the film, which explains the plot better, but scores less on atmosphere. Also contains a nice little doc on the 2 different versions.

Planet of the Apes 6 disc box set (R2)

I recently bought this from the HMV sale, but discovered that films 4 + 5 (conquest + battle) wouldn`t load on my player, a wharfedale 750s. A message just comes up saying no disc!

I returned it and got a new copy and while `battle` would now load, `conquest` (one of my favourites!) still wouldn`t! I`m thinking of just getting my money back - has anyone else had this problem?
