"no disk" error with remote hacked phillips 890

hi there.
about a year ago i managed to succesfully remote hack the philips 890 dvd recorder using the 750 hack and a one4all remote.
recently i have been experiencing some strange happenings with the recorder when trying to play region one discs.
totally randomly it will display the error message "no disk" when inserting a region one disk.
if i take the disk out and then re-insert it it will then "sometimes" proceed to play.
i`ve tried cleaning the laser with a dvd laser cleaning disk several times but still having the same problem.
like i say though, this is totally random and only appears to be hapening with region one disks.is it the recorder finally getting confused or summit and if so does anyone out there no a solution to fix it???
any help would be greatly appreciated as it`s now out of warranty.
many thanks in advance.

RE: Panasonic DMR E30 copying?

glyn,
can you tell me is it possible to use the macroscart lead you have from multi-regionmagic to enable me to transfer vhs films to dvd.
wont allow me to copy vhs at moment.
just says copying of this material is not allowed.
just wanna see what the transfer of my old vhs movies would look like on dvd.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
by the way,i also have a dmr-hs2 recorder.

RE: Philips DVDR 890 problems

as has been said by many people before, get yourself a oneforall remote with a magic button on it.then try it with the oneforall remote.
it wont work if you keep trying to use the phillips remote the recorder came with.
it does work with a oneforall remote though.
just remember to change the dvd recorders remote control settings from recorder to player before using the oneforall remote.
for a layout of about £25 it`s well worth it.

RE: Philips DVDR 890 problems

use the code 121 212 005 255.
that should solve your problem.
i only got 9 dashes up also but still put in the 12 numbers above and it worked for me.
got same results as yourselves until i used the above code.
by the way,the phillips remote does get the dashes up but doesn`t work.
get a oneforall remote.
it does work.
trust me,i nearly gave up but was well glad i didn`t.

RE: Need region code for Phillips DVDR 890

are you using a oneforall remote as it wont work with the dvd recorders own remote

RE: So now that Santa has emptied his sacks in all of our living rooms...

a shiny new panasonic dmr-hs2 recordable dvd player with fully multi-region and rce compatibility was the top pressie in my sac.

RE: Need region code for Phillips DVDR 890

one last thought,i used the video button on the oneforall 5 remote as it didn`t have a dvd button.
and when you get the dashes up on the display i only had 9 appear.
just key in all 12 numbers.
good luck all

RE: Need region code for Phillips DVDR 890

did you finally manage to make your dvdr 890 region free?
if not,did you follow my (pauli672) info?
ie:change the dvd player remote control settings (on the menu screen) from dvd recorder to dvd player cause if you didn`t it wouldn`t let the oneforall remote work.by the way,i borrowed my mates oneforall 5 remote.i had loads of problems getting it to work until i changed the players settings.
once i did that i just followed the settings i have listed before and hey presto,it worked straight away.
fully multi-region (except rce discs).
keep at it,it does work!!!
hope that helps.

RE: CAN PLAY STATION 2 PLAY RCE DISKS

yes,it certainly can if it is accompanied with a further disk (ie:dvd region x).
this is available from many retailers and allows you to use your ps2 as a multi-region dvd player and also allows it to play rce discs.haven`t had a single rce disc fail to play yet!!
hope this helps
