To alter the Region settings on this player
1. Press the Open/Close button on your remote control to open the drive tray
2. Press the 8, 4, 2 and 1 buttons on your remote control, in order, one at a time
3. Press the Enter button on your remote control until the hidden menu appears
4. Select 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or All for multi-region
5. Press the Open/Close button on your remote control
To alter the Macrovision settings on this player
1. Press the Open button on your remote control to open the drive tray
2. Press the 4, 5, 6 and 1 buttons on your remote control, in order, one at a time
3. Select Enable to enable Macrovision, or Disable to disable Macrovision

Gareth,thanks for your help in directing me to the above site.The problem is the Player is displaying the codes as you put them in,FE-- etc,but when it comes to the crunch the vcd`s won`t/can`t play.Theres probably a simple solution but I can`t work it out.Anyway thanks again.

Follow these instructions very carefully.
Power on the player with no disk in the drive
Press "PAUSE" on the remote
Enter "1472" on the remote (the characters 01 47 should appear on the display)
[If your player is a non UK model, this number will probably be different - don`t worry]
Press the UP arrow three times (the characters 04 Fd should appear on the display)
[This number may be different depending on the configuration of your specific model - don`t worry]
Press "PROGRAM", "6", "PROGRAM", "5" (the characters 04 FE should now be displayed)
Press "ENTER" (the display should flash briefly)
Press "RETURN"
Power the player off and then back on
Play a VCD!

Dansai 952 Hack
Always follow this info word for word!
This hack is for region only not macrovision and is completed via the remote control.
Open the tray and remove any discs
press "Setup" on remote
press "Stop" on remote
press "Back Skip" on remote
press "Forward Skip" on remote
Thats it your into the secret setup menu, choose bypass for region free or choose region manually to play RCE discs
RE: What is a cold start?
1. Make sure that there is no disc in the tray and switch on the player.
2. Cold start the player, by holding down the FF and PAUSE buttons on the player. (try Stop and Pause if this doesn`t work)
3. You should see a set of language options. Release the FF and PAUSE buttons.
4. Select your language.
5. Press REPEAT then the following codes for the required region the player is already set to (region you bought the player in):
Region 1 - 2, 9, 3, 3, 4
Region 2 - 3, 8, 7, 6, 7
Region 3 - 5, 6, 7, 3, 2
Region 4 - 7, 6, 8, 8, 4
Region 5 - 5, 3, 8, 1, 4
Region 6 - 2, 4, 4, 6, 2
6. A code will appear, indicating the region setting of your player.
7. Press 9 for region-free, or 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, etc.
8. Press OPEN on the Player to open the disc tray.
9. Press STANDBY on the remote control to close the tray. Next time the player is turned on it will set to the region specified. If the player halts on the FBI Warnings, press Forward Search x2 or faster.
If this method doesn`t work for you, then try the following alternative adjustments.
Step 4: in addition to the selection of language, wait for the display to say `no disk`. This may or may not happen, but the following step will definitely help...
Step 5: Press Setup, Repeat, 3, 8, 7, 6, 7, followed by 9 for region free or your desired region number.

You will need the upgrade disc to upgrade your Dansai,Tesco have replenished their stock of upgrade discs.Phone them on their helpline which is 08456012549 and ask them to post one out to you.Hope this helps.

2. Press Stop on the remote control.

6. A menu will appear saying Enable VCD 1-Yes/2-No.
7. Press 1 on the remote control.
8. VCDs will now play.

The Dansai 1010 which plays everything and records onto vhs has been reduced to £69.99 at Tesco.

This great little machine has been reduced in price to £69.99 and can play anything and record onto video tape.Must be the best bargain around.
