OT 16mm Films.

Many years ago I was into 16mm film projection, last week saw a projector in a s/h shop.
Wondering if there is a Newsgroup or Forum for 16mm if it is still used in the home. If so could you advise please.
Of course it went into decline with the introduction of Video followed now by DVD.
Thanks
David

RE: should i get rid of pacific750 and get a mico?

Sainsbury`s near here sell the Crown at £99-99

RE: Pacific dvd 1000

I think it is replaced by the 750.
But at our local Asda tonight both are marked as out of stock, display models there, but I think Asda might have a policy not to sell off the display.

RE: CDR on Pacific 750?

Box and specification say yes.

RE: TV has 2 scarts, advice needed on colour difference between both.

Yes you are right DVD needs to go into the scart with RGB in, Scart 1
VCR into scart 2 with composite.
Have set the DVD player menu to output RGB?

RE: Sky digibox Problem ?

Think I have read of this before as a regular problem.
What I recall is some Cambridge LNB`s do not get low band with some Grundig box`s. Both being ok. I recall just change the LNB and all is well.
I think this incompatability cause is a mystery.
Get a freind to let you try your box on his dish, and his box on your dish.

RE: pacific dvd meet your maker please

Just got into the Schneider site that was not working, it does give a choice of English.
From there I got the Uk e-mail address.
E-mail on it`s way.
Thanks to all.

RE: pacific dvd meet your maker please

www.schneider-ag.de/
This just gets me a blank page, not even an error message.
Do they have a UK site? FAX number?
My e-mail to Asda CS on my question on W/s Switching unanswered so far.

RE: Region 1 Purchase

Ok then here goes.
So I could purhaps order through a Uk web site as the 2 suggested.

Haven`t been able to see the couple of titles I`m interested there.

But I would think that leaves me to attempt to order from one of the 2 sites I see them on in the USA, would they accept on order from UK, would I have to pay any tax/duties here?

Any problems asking someone on a trip to USA to bring them back forme?

Any problems asking a friend living in USA to send me them and sending them the cost?

RE: What is the Cheapest DVD player on the Market?

Yes Pacific Asda is hackable, see the Hacks on this web site.

RE: What is the Cheapest DVD player on the Market?

Pacific 750 at £89-97 with free 3 year warranty from Asda.
Pacific 1000 might also be there at same price.
Richer Sounds have one at £80 Accoustic Solutions extended warranty extra.

Region 1 Purchase

Is this the correct place to get some tips on obtaining region 1 DVD`s?

RE: Grundig GDV 520 Owners - Update disc available from Mastercare!!!

Out of interest do they charge for these update Cd`s?
I ask as my Pacific750 as this update feature, and was wondering what maufactures do when updates available.

RE: Psion wavefinder

A lot appears in NG alt.radio.digital on these.
I got mine from PC World, part of Dixons.
I and many people have problems with them and our computers, so a lot get returned to the shops. So I would keep trying branches of these shops around your area, or even press them to look on thier computer to see which branches have one. If you do find one, open box there and check CD and power supply are in the box along with Wavefinder and rods.

RE: Where can i get my hands on the Dansai 852?

I looked at my Tesco today, but they do not have any, nor do they have an under £100 model an sale at all. They seem to be completly out of line with their competitors.
But they do have piles and piles of the Prism at £200. This is a LG DVD 4710 plus 20 DVD`s.
Think they would have been better selling this or another player at £99.

RE: Wanted - Cheep, VCD, CDR/W, MP3 Multiregion DVD player?

I`ve got the Pacific DVD 750 with free 3 year warranty from Asda £89-97.
I am very happy wiyh it.

RE: Best Picture

RGB is far better than composite, but I think you will find it hard to tell the difference between RGB and the available s-video.

RE: Satisfied Pacific PDVD1000 & 750 owners

Tried a 1000, ok but no rgb on scart so changed it for a 750 which does have rgb out.
But will not send a w/s switch command to my w/s Tv.

Anyone know of a secret menu to activate this?

Mine is into a £1500 Tv and picture/sound is fine, would find it hard to believe that I could get better for say one twice the price.

RE: Pacific 750 and 1000

I in fact tried both and choose to keep the Pacific 750 as I found, as you say, the 1000 does not do rgb on the scart.

Surprised on what you say on the DD of the 750.
Not expert on this, but book says it decodes AC-3, DTS, also carries DD and DTS logos.
The manual shows how to connect to a 6 channel amplifier with a DD ac3 decoder or processor.
Its Audio set up menu lists, DD,DTS, Mp3 and Others.
Your further explanation welcomed.

I use a normal Yamaha AV Prologic AV amp. your advise at to the correct setting of the 750 audio menu again welcomed.
Many thanks.

RE: Best £100 DVD player

Just got a Pacific 750 from Asda at £89-97 with 3 year waranty.
Seems fine to me, suggest you take a look at it, appears to be well featured.

RE: asda dvds

That`s the number, 4561, I`ve been given in a NG for the Pacific 750, but sadly also told the 1000 not known.
(Not tried it on my 750)

RE: Old VCD`s on Pacific DVD Players

Yes the 2 piles are like that.
The ones that play are marked Video CD
The ones that do not DigitalVideo on CD-i

The one exception is Four Weddings and a Funeral marked as Video CD, this loads and display comes on at zero on the counter but does not start playing.

Pressing play as no effect, after a while chapter 1 turns to a number like 255.

I will therefore assume a faulty disc, unless you know a way to start it.

Trust Philips to do something different, as your last sentence.
I still have the Cdi machine use it for audio CD`s, but was going to uppug it now I have the DVD player.
Thanks.

RE: RGB and w/s on Pacific 1000 Scart.

I have now looked more at the 750 and find that this is the reverse of the 1000 as regards w/s switching. It does not send a signal.

So if using a 1000 on 4x3 have to manually switch to 4x3.
If using a 750 with a w/s film have to manually set Tv to full wide, or a 4x3 squeesed picture is viewed.

I am used to digital satellite/terrestrial digital boxes doing w/s switching automatically via pin 8 of the scart. Is it the Pacifics that are different or are all DVD players different?

RGB and w/s on Pacific 1000 Scart.

I`m looking at both Pacifics.
I am finding the 1000 is not doing RGB from the scart, can I enable this?
750 will do RGB.

Also the 1000 is pernamently telling the w/s to go w/s on a 4x3 disc, can this be cured.
Again the 750 is ok.

Old VCD`s on Pacific DVD Players

Hi,
Have had the oppertunity to try my older VCD,s on these players.
These are from the Philips CDi days. (mpeg 1)
Most are movies, a few music videos.

Half load and automatically start to play.
The other mostly stay at the `loading` stage.
1or 2 only load, and display, displays the zero starting possition but does not start to play, have press play to no effect.
Anyway I can kick start, and also get loading to complete?

No difference in results between 750 or 1000 models.

RE: Pacific 750 Black & White all regions

Are you outputing rgb into an s-video input on the Tv , or s-video into rgb?

Pacific 750 and 1000

Hi,
Visited a couple of Asda`s and talked about the 750 and 1000 models.

1st. store. I was told the the 750 will do Mepg 3 the 1000 will not,
what difference will this feature make please? Also told the 750 will not
play VCD`s of which I have some, but the 1000 will.

2nd, store told me both would play VCD`s, anyone tried them on the 750?

These old discs are with my old Philips CDi machine which has a cartridge into enable it to play movies.
