Dolby 5.1 decoder?

What is the benefit of having a dolby 5.1 decoder built into a machine as opposed to optical output if you are running it through a dolby/dts amp?

I cannot see the point of having both the optical and 5+sub coax outputs......or am i missing something?

Action replay 2 - CAN U PLAY BACKUPS WITHOUT CHIPPING MACHINE?

I have been told that you can play vcd`s and ps2 backups/rips without the need to have the machine chipped !

If so, is this easy to do and would you recommend tis product?

PANASONIC RV41 - PLAYING VCD`S

just discovered that my machine won`t play certain vcd`s !
The player is multi region and up to now has played all vcd`s, but the recent batch of `gold precision` discs wont play at all, but will on my mates budget ` Bush` machine !!
I presume it`s just the machine being choosy re the discs, but any info appreciated.
NB. (have no problems playing white label discs)

Thought also about getting the Pioneer dvd 444 - would this have been a better choice as i have heard it plays all vcd`s?

samsung dvd 511 - hack problems

Tried the multi region hack on this site, but when it gets to the part where you press repeat and the code, nothing happens and the current region is not shown on the screen as the hack states.
Can anyone help?

RE: Panasonic picture problem when using DVD

I HAVE JUST SET UP A SYSTEM (PANASONIC DVD & VCR WITH SAMSUNG TV) AND I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM.
I SOUGHT EXPERT ADVICE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS DUE TO EITHER INFERIOR QUALITY SCARTS OR THE SCART LEADS ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER.
TRIED TO ADDRESS BOTH OF THE ABOVE WITH NO CHANGE!
IF YOU MANAGE TO RESOLVE, LET ME KNOW.........IF I FIND ANYTHING , I`LL DO THE SAME.

LOW AUDIO - RECORDING DVD TO VHS

I`M USING A PANASONIC SC HT70 HOME CINEMA/DVD WHICH OBVIOUSLY HAS IT`S OWN 5:1 SPEAKERS. THEREFORE, I AM RUNNING THE AUDIO TO THE VIDEO RECORDER FROM THE `LINE OUT` PHONO JACKS ON THE DVD, ALONG WITH A SIGNAL FROM THE VIDEO OUT. ALL THESE THREE TERMINATE TO A SCART CONNECTOR WHICH FEEDS INTO THE VIDEO.THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS THAT THE AUDIO SIGNAL IS VERY LOW. THE PICTURE IS PERFECT AS THE MACRO HAS BEEN DISABLED.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ALTERNATIVE IDEA`S OR KNOW OF ANY WAY TO IMPROVE THE SOUND VOLUME?
