RE: Six Feet Under: Series 1 box set, R1 vs R2

Thanks very much Rik, I had considered PAL speed up but didn`t think it would cause so much difference. Mind set at ease, R2 purchased.

Thanks again,

Neil.

Six Feet Under: Series 1 box set, R1 vs R2

Hi, I was looking to get this as a christmas present for someone. I was all set to order it from CDWow when I noticed that the running times vary greatly (780 mins for R1 and 700 mins for R2). I checked out DVDCompare but according to them there is no difference.

Anybody know otherwise? An extra episode perhaps?

Thanks,

Neil

RE: best death

Mr Orange in Reservoir Dogs, talk about prolonging the agony!

One of the mafioso bosses in Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai..
"What`s that light coming from the plughole?"
BANG!

The Thing has a whole host of them.

Hanibal Lecter beating the guard to death with his truncheon whilst
the classical music continues to play in the background.

Kenny in most episodes of South Park.

Dennis Hopper in True Romance.

Without sounding too morbid, sometimes great death scenes make a movie. I`d say Freddy vs Jason and Final Destination 2 being prime examples of this. Both enjoyable in their own right but extra marks for the imagination put into them!

RE: Indy from CDWow.

I had the same problem. I called them yesterday to ask if they knew what
was going on and was (rather rudely) informed that it was *only* posted on
the 10th so I just had to wait!

Thankfully, it turned up this morning so I`d say if you haven`t got your copy by Monday,
give them a call.

Oh, and it`s definately worth the wait.

Neil.

RE: DVD Rental by Post

http://www.in-movies.co.uk/dvd/main.php

Hi there, I`ve been using this company for about 6 weeks now (it was recommended to me after I asked pretty much the same question) and can`t fault it. £15 a month for unlimted rental of DVDs! You can pay a higher amount depending on how many you want at a time (£15 gets you two) but their service is so fast that you`re never without a new DVD to watch. I set up my account on a Thursday and had my first disc by Saturday!

As I said, I can`t fault them. It`s also very good renting DVDS because it saves you forking out £20 for a disc that turns out to be rubbish ( I rented The Big Hit and it was bloody awful).

Let me know how you get on!

Wee side note: Just got my tickets for this year`s Edinburgh Film Festival. Amongst other things, I`m attempting a triple bill that consits of 2 japanese horror films and an Altman style ensemble comedy. Anybody else going to see anything?

RE: Surround Sound for Gamecube

A *very* belated "Thank you" on this matter. Just got the leads I needed last night and got the whole thing hooked up.

It sounds pretty top notch, can`t wait to hear Resident Evil through it!

Everybody else out there happy with their Gamecubes? Got Pikmin at the weekend, total weirdness with that sprinkle of Nintendo magic. Didn`t have any doubts about the machine as I`ve pretty much bought all the Nintendo machines in the past but I`m really pleased at how well it`s taken off and also that the games are of such a high quality.

Role on Zelda and Mario!

Surround Sound for Gamecube

HI, got my Gamecube last week (awesome piece of kit!) and was wondering how you can hook it up to an amp to get surround sound? I`ve had a shot using the AV lead that you get in the box (tried putting it through my video) but was unsuccessful. My TV doesn`t have any suitable ports on it and I`m a bit stuck as to how to get the sound to work, any ideas? I`ve noticed a couple of leads on the market but they don`t really explain how you hook it up.
Thanks,
Neil.

RE: Is the GameBoy Advance worth buying?

Just a wee follow to Wad`s post re games for the GBA....Golden Sun is amazing. I bought it at the weekend and have already clocked up about 8 1/2 hours on it. Think Final Fantasy on a hand held and you`ve got the idea. Not owning a GBA means that you can`t play Golden Sun. Not owning Golden Sun means that you`re missing out on a fantastic game that`ll have you hooked from the beginning.

The choice is yours........

RE: `Taxi Driver` any good????? only £9.99 on play247 by the way!

Taxi Driver IS an absolute must, I agree with that, but when it comes to the disc.....beware. I bought my copy from HMV last year as part of there `Buy 1 Get 1 Free` offer. I watched it when I got home and after the layer change I was presented with a screen of green and purple squares! Checked this out on a couple of my friend`s machines and they had the same thing. I swapped this at HMV a couple of times, still no joy. I ended up getting fobbed off with the classic "It must be your machine...." line, so played them at there own game and ended up getting Silence of the Lambs for £2!
Sorry, I digress.....anyway, what I`m saying is that just make sure play.com are ok with returns just incase they have the same dodgy batch as HMV did.

Help with Toshiba SD100 (disc probs/Transformers: The Movie)

Hi there, I recently got Transformers: The Movie and have a problem with the disc (or maybe my player?).....I don`t know if anyone out there is familiar with the disc but it starts with an intro before the menu comes up. The problem is that there is no sound at this part or any of the other special features but the main feature is fine. I replaced the disc 3 times but they all had the same problem. I tried the 3rd disc on another machine (Toshiba SD2109) and it worked fine! Tried calling Toshiba but they couldn`t help me, so I thought I`d try someone on this forum before trailing the machine round every repair shop in Edinburgh. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, had a similar problem with Taxi Driver: the disc crashed when the layer changed, this happended on other machines too though....thanks.
