i got the Toshiba XDE500 full upscaling 1080P dvd from ebay ,but you can get it from sainsburys and it region free capable . hope this helps .

hdmi is picture quality only not audio, try best co ax you can afford [ie gold plated]

I suggest that you got to bluray setup /audio and see what its set at , it may say rsa, or optical or scart or co-ax use only one of the connections. also check amp is set to a spare channel. :/

ive got Toshiba XDE500 DVD Player With HDMI,DivX,Region Free[upscaler] and just bought a HD DVD, thinking that because Toshiba had that format before blu-ray won out, it would play but its having none of it ! is there something i`m missing in getting hd dvd`s to play .thanks in advance .

only a thought but if you could reburn these discs and remove the start menu and titles, I recon this would do the trick ,i had similar probs with loading and this is how i solved it. hope this helps .

ok found real hack [at last]! start with no disc inserted,when you see NO DISC press 9735
scroll to region, press RH arrow to select 0 then press ok/enter scroll to exit press ok/enter
switch tv off then back on region 0 is now set . let me know how you get on cheers briskem1 ;)

if i remeber correctly all i did was open dvd menu on remote [with region 1 disc in] scroll down to region settings and click 0 thats it ,if i remember anything else i`ll write ok good luck .

I notice in the setup menu it has hmdi 1080i and 1080p which is the best and whats the difference, cheers.

yep, i bought a TECHNIKA 19 inch from tesco it has inbuilt freeview and dvd player which can be set region free cost is about £170 with HD ready and what a great little digi system it is , hope this helps .

blu ray query

I am thinking of buying a blu ray player but have concerns about whether they are region free or stuck on region 2 and can you reset them to region free . thanks for any help in advance.
