RE: HDMI DVD Player with 5.01 Surround Sound = £40 Tevion DVD-8000

GMAN, personally I think you cant go wrong for £40, if you can still get your hands on one. I have looked for a while at various brands Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Onkyo, all of which are at least double the Aldi price for the HD upscale. The first disk I tried out was Revenge of the Sith thru my Panny plasma and the results were very noticable over RGB to say the least. Better players are on the way, I know theres an Onkyo looming in about a month but its reckoned to be £300! If you want to spend £300 I`d wait for the new HD XBox

One plus for me with the Tevion is that I love my music, this player also plays DVD MP3. Ive thrown all kinds of disks at it so far with no problem. Like I said, £40, cant go wrong

RE: Aldi DVD burner £79.99 & other stuff

if anyone is interested for £98 (Dabs.com, Ive just ordered mine) you can get a MSI DR8-A DVD 8x burner, also does cds at 40x, I currently have a MSI CDR 52x and it has been faultless, hence my opting for thr dvdr

for info this is the spec

``With MSI™ DR8-A`s powerful specifications, it allows users to work at 8 different formats and speeds, they are DVD+R writing speed at 8x, DVD+RW rewriting speed at 4x, DVD-R writing speed at 4x, DVD-RW rewriting speed at 2x, DVD-ROM reading speed at 12x, CD-R writing speed at 40x, CD-RW rewriting speed at 24x and CD-ROM reading speed at 40x, too. As a DVD Dual writer supporting both DVD+R/+RW and DVD-R/-RW discs in just one drive, DR8-A enlarges the bound for users from purchasing recordable or rewritable discs.

DR8-A features ABS Technology (Anti-Bumping System) to absorb shock and reduce vibrations, making reading and writing of discs more accurate. Another great feature, BURN-Proof?, can prevent buffer under run and minimize recording failures. In addition, once the DVD+R/+RW disc has been created by using DR8-A, it allows users to play it from standard DVD-ROM or DVD Player without any compatibility issue.

DR8-A also supports latest specification, HD-BURN (High Density Burn). This writing technology can record twice the capacity of specified CD-R discs. For example, user can store 1,400MB data on a 700MB CD-R disc, which is a powerful solution for cost saving as well as convenience.

DR8-A DVD+R/+RW writer bundles popular software, including Nero Burning ROM, PowerDVD, MyDVD and ShowBiz for film editing which allows users to enjoy the fun of being a movie director at home.

RE: Savings on nearly everything form CD wow links to cheap mobile phones etc

this is one of the many links to get £1.50 reduced of every price stated in CD wow when you enter the site from this link. There is another link which has something to do with Trustcard users which will also give you a one of additional reduction of £1 for a CD and £1.50 for a DVD

RE: PS2 Package at Argos

:D
I pre ordered the PS2 with eye toy, fifa 2003 for £148 on the Argos web site. I collected it from my store in Wrexham and the girl at the counter specifically stated they would not combine offers. She entered the code for the console and it added the steering wheel pack c/w another game pad (much to her surprise). Also for spending over £100 I received a £10 gift voucher which I immediately gave back to the girl for a DVD remote. All in all, not a bad transaction.

RE: Sony STRDB-1070 for £250

thanks! going to Chester to my nearest Richer Sounds now

Sony STRDB-1070 for £250

Advice wanted! This was spotted in my local Currys whilst I was looking to upgrade my TV. This seems an excellent price for the money. Is there a better model out there for this kind of money. If not I`m off to but it this afternoon

Power DVD 3.0 Hack

can anyone please help with a region hack for the PowerDvd 3.0 as it has set itself at region 2 after the last dvd I viewed

RE: Highlander R1 (dts) under £8 delivered from Canada

I ordered this (immortal edition) from Play on Weds 17th arrived on 19th, dts sound is superb plus the cd of `princes of the universe` was well worth the money. The old 7" single (ahh, remember vinyl) used to sell in excess of 25 quid cos it was as rare as rockin horse poo! all those years ago

RE: Buena Vista deals on ezydvd region 2 & 4????

Armageddon was going for under a tenner for the 2 disc set at dvdzone2.com the other week, I also got Alien under ten quid. the only problem is that the packing and any booklet is in French/Dutch etc

RE: Anyone got a sony STRDE475

I bought one of these from a shop in Oswestry last week for £150. The shop is an ex-Index catalogue shop. The stock changes frequently as they may have only one or two of each item but the bargains are unbelieveable. I have seen Sony Wega TVs for just over £500.

The Sony 475 is excellent for a budget AV amp. Mine is connected to my Grundig GDV210 dvd via an optical and the sound is superb. I went for this amp as its DTS and most of my dvds are from the US. I hope you enjoy it

RE: DVDs at CDWOW!!!

Just found this web site as I wanted to buy a bush dvd 2004 from Aldi for under £100. There is a reason behind this as I wanted to make sure that the bush is multi-region, and it is straight out of the box. Anyway, I have been using Play 24/7 for 18 months now and 95% of my dvd`s are region 1. I bought T2 about 6-8months ago on R1 and it is the same as the one being advertised on cdwow. If you are lucky it is packed in a metal case, and its the mutts nutts. So, enjoy!
