RE: Anyone got a refund from scan.co.uk?

Hmmm, it`s about a month now.

Just checked my card. Seems the refund has now gone through.

Pity the amount wasn`t the same as what they put through for the original sale.

Too much to ask I guess.

Ah well you learn from experience.

Don`t shop at Scan.

2 scarts into 1. What is the best solution?

Hi,

Common problem I know but if you only have a TV with one scart input (plus aerial) and you have a dvd and a video player that both output a scart lead each......... what is the current best/cheapest solution without having the go fiddling around the back as it were?

Cheers

Neil

RE: Is the Pioneer DV-444 the machine to buy?

Well I bit the bullit and bought the machine.

Very impressed so far. Only one slight hicup was the machine automatically sent a NTSC signal to my tv when playing R1 disks. This I easily changed manually to pal and now have no problem.

The macrovision on R2 disks has gone but as expected the Pal 60 problem with R1 disks is there. Hey ho..... no real dram.

The best thing..... the machine sits on top of my video and looks small which keeps Er Indoors happy!!!........ result!

Cheers

Neil

Anyone got a refund from scan.co.uk?

Has anyone got experience of sending kit back to Scan for a refund?

I would be interested to make contact.

Cheers

Neil

RE: Worrying.......

No my understanding is that it appears most dvd players output pal 60. Most modern european tv`s can take pal 60 or real pal (which I think is called pal 50)

If your tv wasn`t a modern one, the R1 disks would come out b/w....

So there is not a problem watching R1 dvds on most tvs. The problem appears when you sending an R1 dvd signal to a uk video player.
To get around this I think you have to buy a converter or something.

As I said, I am far from an expert on this subject. Check out the Techtronics site for the expert opinion.

Cheers

RE: Is the Pioneer DV-444 the machine to buy?

Search all forums for 444

You will see that someone had a problem backing up a NTSC dvd to tape.

From what research I have done...... this seems to be because the DV-444K player outputs in PAL 60 mode which UK VCRs don`t like.

The signal will need to be converted to real PAL.

Don`t really know what that all means but I got the info from the Techtronics site.....(excellent site BTW)

Don`t actually think I am going to want to copy R1 disks, but I don`t really like the thought that I never would be able to.

Is the Pioneer DV-444 the machine to buy?

Hi,

Been on this site looking for a new machine to buy. Thought I had found it in the form of the DV-444K, but after reading a few threads on here, I see that some have had problems?

I want a reliable machine that is region free, plays VCDs and MP3s and can read all types of CD. Macro free would be awfully nice.

Is this the one??

Cheers

Neil

Wanted! Good All Rounder. Suggestions?

Hi,

Want a good quality reliable player that is multi-region and ideally macro free for around £150.00.

MP3, CDRW and VCD would be awfully nice too.

What would you buy and where would you go?

Cheers

Neil

RE: poor customer service

Nilesh,

Yes I did. Thank you for taking the effort to try and resolve the situation. The dvds are welcomed but of course should not have been necessary.

I think the number of replies in this thread confirms a need for some serious action your end.

I appreciate that you are just one person working in what I assume is a company of many. A organisation is always represented by the quality of its staff....... you have tried to address the problem personally and fix the mistakes of others........my advice would to be lose the unreliable staff before you lose all your staff.

Thanks again.

Broken Promises!

Nilesh,

Just to let you know that the promised compensation dvd has again failed to turn up.

I hope you were not just feeding me a line with regards to making Scan look better on here. Again someone has cocked up at your end. It is not a stock issue because all the net suppliers have stock and can deliver next day.

If you cannot fulfill the promise then please refund the value of the Mummy 2 to my credit card so I can order it from play247 and watch it tomorrow.

RE: poor customer service

Hi Xeno,

I am quite impressed with the amount of replies to my original post way back when. Guess there are still alot of people out there with alot of opinions about Scan.

In answer to your question about promised packages..... Emailed Wesley on Monday, told Mummy 2 will go out Tue.... it is now Thursday and still nothing. I will give it until Saturday!!

Cheers

RE: Does anyone know about Computer DVD Rom Drive Hacks

Dave,

I`ve got a Toshiba DVD Drive which I was told was region locked and unhackable. Went searching on Google and eventually found a site that had a program that hacked it to make it multiregion.

Try

It`s A Shame That Only Public Opinion Shames Scan Into Action!

Nelley,

Thank you for you offer. I have emailed you the info you require. It`s just a shame that your company will only act when publically embarrassed.
I shall expect the missing items and the compensation dvd tomorrow.

Thank you.

Neil

Do NOT buy from Scan.co.uk.

This is just a friendly warning. I had delivered last week an SC-2000 DVD player. A good spec machine at a reasonable price.
I had seen some chat on a couple of sites about the Customer Service or rather the lack of it but I had decided on the machine and so I ordered one.

Machine arrives without a remote control, manual or leads. I immediatley tried contacting Scan via phone, email and fax and well....... lets just put it this way, a week later I have had no contact back from them whatsoever, not even an acknowledgment saying they are dealing with the matter.

This is without doubt the worst Customer Service I have personally experienced of a company. They will take your money but if there is a problem forget it.

Give your cash to someone else who earns it.

Neil.
