Synopsis:
As the United States is turned upside-down by a strange plague-like event in which millions of corpses walk the earth as blood-thirsty zombies (with the recently-deceased that the zombies kill usually returning as zombies themselves, multiplying their number), a small group of survivors of the onslaught, which include a nurse and a police officer, try to find shelter and protection within a massive shopping mall in the mid-sized city of Everett, WA. What they don`t reckon on is that the zombies still have some sort of residual memory, and everyone loves going to the mall, right? Realizing that their time is running out, they decide to make another attempt at flight, to a presumably un-zombie-infested island, but to do so, they`ll have to get past thousands of zombies in-between...

The original Dawn of the Dead was THE best Zombie movie.
I say was because now, the remake is the best.
This film is a Zombie fan`s wettest dream. It rocks.
And in an age of Resident Evil cr*pness it shines above all other horror films made over the last five years.
Don`t get me wrong, I love the original. I`ve owned it in so many versions over the years it`s ridiculous.
But I love this version more.
I love the chaos it shows. In a way that the original never could. I love the bleakness, the hopelessness.
This new Zombie infested world is a far more apocalyptic proposition than the last.
And I love the way it`s a no holds barred gorefest made by a major studio.
The first time I saw it I couldn`t believe they showed so much of the red stuff.
In an age of restraint in horror cinema, Dawn of the Dead is a welome return to the gorefest of yester year.
Many Romero purists have condemned this film. Yet it alone has created the opportunity for the bearded one to make his forth installment. That is something to worry about. The script for it sucks Satan`s glans.
It`s a fact that remakes can better their predessors.
The Thing being a classic example. The Fly, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the first remake that is, not the cr*pfest by Abel Ferrera). All great films.
This director`s cut is better than the theatrical version. The additions are small but important.
And not just gore. The character inserts are as interesting as the many exploding heads.
If you consider yourself a Zombie Movie fan and you don`t like this film then you are not a Zombie Movie fan. Plain and simple.
A modern day masterpiece.
