Review of Tears For Fears Tears Roll Down (Greatest Hits 82 to 92)

    4 / 10

    Introduction

Not a massive fan of Tears for Fears back in their heyday but with one of my favourite films (Donnie Darko) using a couple of their better tracks, I decided to give them another listen. I may have missed something in my younger days!

    Video

Another 4:3 (1.33:1) transfers that again is nothing special. More of the same grainy imaging and more macro blocking (just like the Wet Wet Wet DVD). Again, these old videos have some margin of error, but there is even more poor attention to authoring with the whole production of this DVD.

    Audio

You have, yet again, the choice of both 5.1 Dolby Digital and 2.0 Dolby Digital (Stereo).
The 5.1 feels very fake and unnatural again, the track is another harsh mix and has a distinct lack of base. The better track is the 2.0, it is more natural but still lacks the base that can add the warmth. The biggest problem here is the lack of care, yet again, with track endings. Many are not left to fade out fully and jump back to the menu screen abruptly

    Features

    None, again!

    Conclusion

Another disappointment from Universal. All you get again is a rushed out DVD that`s feels like it`s been put together by an amateur. Sound is poor with irritating authoring mistakes. The video is also on a par with the sound. Buy the CD forget about the DVD.

    Universal, please try harder!
