Review of Cheech And Chong`s The Corsican Brothers

    3 / 10

    Introduction

Cheech (Marin) and (Tommy) Chong are best known for their drug fueled, silly antics and lots of cop chases. Did I mention drug-fueled?

Cheech and Chong "Up in Smoke" is probably their best known film, in which they take lots of drugs and get chased by cops. You get the idea. They may 5 films like that and then made a sixth where they went straight. No drugs.

That`s this film! - in which they play a pair of twins separated soon(ish) after birth who reunite to save the world (well a little bit of the world)

    Video

The feature is presented in anamorphic widescreen (16:9) and is pretty good for low-budget 1984.

Contrast is good and colour-balance is acceptable although the picture is frequently marred from some over enthusiastic edge enhancement and other digital errors.

The DVD menu is a simple static picture.

    Audio

Sound is a rather ordinary Dolby Digital 2.0 (although my DVD player seems to think the silent DVD menu is multi-channel)

Dialogue is clear enough throughout and the incidental music is ok but nothing to write home about. There`s no obvious hissing or crackling but the sound feels a little "compressed".

    Features

    Erm, a trailer. Woohoo.

    Conclusion

I like Cheech and Chong movies. I like the silly antics, I like the inconceivable amount of dope they smoke. I even like the dodgy car chases and the dubious plots.

This has none of those things :( There are a couple of glimpses of the Cheech and Chong of old but they don`t do "straight" too well. Their acting is over the top as always but without the excuse of drugs, it just looks like bad acting.

    Their other movies are better.......
