Review for WWE Elimination Chamber 2012

8 / 10

The Elmination Chamber is a match that I love. Two on one PPV could be seen as overkill and a little bit like lazy booking... much like the two Money in the Bank matches at that PPV, but they are certainly matches that deliver each and every time. This PPV had one of the best chamber matches I have seen and it's just a shame that the rest of the PPV isn't exactly up to the same quality. A lot of the PPV was dedicate to ridiculous skits that were either not funny or not watchable... or both, most involving Santino. The PPV is not a waste of time though.

Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship
Kofi Kingston vs. Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. CM Punk vs. The Miz vs. R-Truth
This was a great match and probably what the PPV should have ended with... can't have that with Cena on the PPV though can we?? A great mix of people and this felt like the chamber where you honestly did not know who would win. All six had the potential to be WWE Champion and though WWE would never have Kofi/Ziggler or Truth as champions going into Wrestlemania, there was a part of me watching that really wasn't sure. Punk steals the show and this is a great match for him and this is one of the best chamber matches I have ever seen.

WWE Divas Championship Match
Beth Phoenix vs. Tamina Snuka
I don't know why, but I thought Tamina would have been better than this. Maybe it is because she is Hall of Famer Jimmy Snuka's daughter, but when I saw this on the card I thought that even though neither could be described as 'gorgeous diva' we would get a decent wrestling match out of them. Sadly, that was not to be.

Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
The Great Khali vs. Big Show vs. Santino Marella vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Wade Barrett vs. Cody Rhodes
Unlike the first one, this match felt like it had been cobbled together with whoever was available on the roster. There is no one besides Big Show who I would say are Main Event ready and certainly WWE were not dumb enough to put the belt on Great Khali or heaven forbid Santino!!! Overall it was still a good match, but not as good as the first one.

United States Championship Match
Jack Swagger vs. Justin Gabriel
A pointless match here to fill time. The kind of match that you would fast forward through on Smackdown or Raw and probably would end up on Superstars anyway. No reason being here.

Ambulance Match
John Cena vs. Kane
A good match in general and Cena and Kane work well together. HOWEVER, I do feel that the potential of this match and giving Cena more of an edge to his character is lost and this just feels like every other No DQ match that WWE ever do. Should have been great, but instead was a little disappointing.

There's a part of me that feels if WWE had put the first chamber match last it would have ended the PPV more satisfying. Of course, with Cena not being in that match WWE couldn't do that, which is a shame as this is one of those PPVs that with a few tweaks could have been one of the best. As it is, it is still enjoyable, but not a PPV that you must have, but if you want to see CM Punk in one of the best Chamber performances then this is certainly one not to eliminate.
