missus read a bit about it in today`s TV guide. Said they deliberately kept same characters, and kept them similar to originals, and the basic crime is the same, but changed the rest so that it would be worth watching to those who had seen the original.

It is as they say WWAW :) the second series is on in Autumn, so hopefully they`ll repeat series 1.
We`ll probably give the US one a go now from what we`ve read, and resist the temptation to compare.

Yep, I`m now convinced.
RJS, the Danish series is superb. Keep an eye out on BBC4, they`re currently repeating the original Wallander series at the moment...

I really enjoyed it.
Quite liked the ending in fairness, although only if it explains itself well into the next season and doesn`t drag on too long.
With regards to the Danish original, how many episodes are there? Think I`d probably watch it closer to the second season starting on BBC though.

There was 20 episodes, BBC4 showed 2 a week Saturday nights
Well have to say i hated the ending, as far as i was concerned it was a 13 episode 1 crime drama, in these days of solving 3 crimes and neatly wrapping them up in 43 min or so it was a breath of fresh air, then they decide not to let us know who did it :( gutted to be honest
Got about 1/2 way into 3rd episode and couldn`t be arsed with it. it probably starts to veer off fairly soon, but was all too familiar. Interesting what they kept the same, jumpers, eating dinner out of a saucepan, music, some of the camera shots, but some of the changes we didn`t like and found it hard to watch without comparing, probably since didn`t see original that long ago. The male cop character and main male politician are different as well, the cop in US less likeable, but politician in US less shifty, buut his male assistant super annoying, but maybe that changes.
It`s funny that certain things seem to take a month or so to happen in Danish version, happen in a couple of episodes, but certain aspects of US seemed really slow, and got boring but Danish one was slow, but interesting, maybe cos we had to do some reading so kept us interested ;)
So whodunnit then...pm me :)

SPOILER:
It was the Belko character (not sure what his name was in the Danish one)
But they have changed the killer in the US version.
