Unconfirmed if it will be a free upgrade to Windows 8 users.

My current plan for my laptop (only machine I have that runs W8) has been to wait for SSD prices to come down enough for me to easily afford a 512gb one, and then reinstall Windows 7 and set up dual booting to Windows 8 in case I need it for work.

If they give W10 away free to W8 users, I'll obviously upgrade, but hopefully they'll bring back the pretty Aero interface, as that would make me consider not putting W7 on at all.

I just bought my parents a new laptop with W8.1 on last month.  FML what a weekend that was trying to show them how to use it!  I've only used it for about an hour on my girlfriend's parent's machine so it was a steep learning curve for me too!

Wish I knew this then and I would have just waited!

I'm on leave, so decided to upgrade the 8.1 pc to 10 this morning using the preview iso. works perfectly so far!!!

it did an upgrade, kept all my apps, settings etc :)

it's like a melding of 7 and 8.1, i.e. as above start bar is, there, similar to old style, i.e. you can easily view apps, get to control panel etc, but there are little preview things liek you get on the 8/8.1 mosaic.

To say I miss aero would be a lie, my main work PC and my games PC are still on Win7, but my laptop is on 8.1 and it misses aero. Such a pretty UI shame its not an option. :/
