Any great soundtracks out there?

cutz2000 (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 23rd March 2005, 21:57

I was just wondering does anyone know of any great movie scores out there?

A few of my favourites are 007 - The World Is Not Enough (David Arnold), Veronica Guerin (Harry Gregson Williams), Armageddon (Trevor Rabin and Harry Gregson Williams), Braveheart (James Horner), and Gladiator (Hans Zimmer)

Anyone know any more really good ones?

You seem to enjoy the Media Ventures sound, so...

Hans Zimmer
The Rock
The Peacemaker
Tears Of The Sun (the track `Cameroon Border Post` is breathtaking)

David Arnold
Tomorrow Never Dies
Godzilla (only available on P2P networks, but well worth it... I can send a few tracks if you PM your address)

Harry Gregson-Williams
Man On Fire
Kingdom Of Heaven (coming soon...)

John Powell
Paycheck
The Italian Job (2003)
The Bourne Identity & The Bourne Supremacy
Robots

John Powell & Harry Gregson-Williams
Shrek
Antz

Also worth looking at:

Alias Season 1 - Michael Giacchino (some of the best action music I`ve heard)
Air Force One - Jerry Goldsmith
The Mummy - Jerry Goldsmith
The Mummy Returns - Alan Silvestri
Sky Captain & The World Of Tomorrow - Edward Shearmur
The Lost World: Jurassic Park - John Williams (his best IMO)

I could go on for hours...

One of my most favouritest soundtracks is the Solaris (remake) by Cliff Martinez.

Very cool and very atmospheric.

Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn...

And those who dance will spin and turn,
And those who wait will wait no more,
And those who talk will hear the words,
And those who see will fade and die,
And those who laugh will surely fall,
And those who know will always feel their backs against the thin wall...

Remembered some more...

Starship Troopers - Basil Poledouris
The Ninth Gate - Wojciech Kilar
Aliens: Deluxe Edition - James Horner
Mission: Impossible - Danny Elfman
Rambo 1 & 2 (3 not so good IMO) - Jerry Goldsmith
Ray - Craig Armstrong
Timeline (Rejected Score) - Jerry Goldsmith
Amelie - Yann Tiersen (this one really surprised me, having never seen the film)
Alexander - Vangelis

I also think the score to the game Hitman 2: Silent Assassin by Jesper Kyd is great if you can find it.

Themes: Vangelis (all his movie themes from the 80s, which is brillient)

Blade Runner is my favourite by some distance - outstanding work.

Lisa Gerrard`s soundtrack for The Insider is also very good. Not forgetting all Luc Besson`s films which are scored by Eric Serra, and all are superb. Nikita and The Big Blue are probably my favourites. Eric Serra also did Goldeneye.
