Page 1 of Panasonic DMR-EX95V

Has anyone seen or got one of these as I`m thinking of getting one but £600 is a bit steep at the moment.
Any thoughts or problems would be helpful

I recently bought a Panasonic DMR-EX95V DVD/Video combi and am still getting used to it. There are a few anomolies to sort out which are not in the instruction book but I am satisfied up to now. Don`t pay full price try various Internet sites first. I found www.digitaldirect.co.uk and bought mine from them @ £100 less than list and it arrived within 2 days by courier. However there website says they play region 1 & 2 but this is not the case. When I rang I was told it was an error but they can do it if asked before purchase. I didn`t want to send my machine back to Bolton (from Warwick) so I am searching for a hack at the moment when I saw your thread. Can anyone else help me please?

The QVC Outlet shop in Warrington has them for £299.00! They are returns from the customers who have bought them off the telly though.

The 30-day no-quibble return policy that QVC offers is still in place so I picked one up. It seems to work fine apart from a noticable "humming" noise the set makes when it is switched on. It hums even if it is not playing a tape / DVD. Is this normal?

I bought a Panasonic DMR-EX95V today (QVC Shrewsbury £349.99). I haven`t had much time to play with it but I did notice the `humming` noise as described by Anorak 1066. The only time it doesn`t hum is when it`s in standby mode or unplugged. You can also feel a slight vibration if you rest your hand lightly on top of the unit. I think it may be caused by the HDD as I have an older Panasonic DVD player/VCR combi (NV-VP31) which doesn`t do this.
I feel reassured that someone else has mentioned the same thing so I won`t be taking it back to the shop. It`s just a matter of remembering to put it in standby mode when not in use, which is probably a good habit to get into anyway!
I have stuck four small felt pads to the underside of the machine to act as a damper and I think it has helped.

If your Player can Be Made Region Free ...(And I can see on Posts # 57 on there that your Model has been sucessfully Hacked)... All the Information you Require to Make your Player or Recorder Region Free is covered comprehensively on that Forum thread.... It Appears Nearly all (if not all) Newer Models and a Most of the Older Players can be Made Region Free by the Methods Covered on the Forum Thread.

If you do not see your Actual Player or Recorder Listed ...just try the Codes ...as the Answer you will get if you ask the Question "Can my Player or Recorder be made Region Free via this method" is ....."Try it and you will find out"

From Reading the Forum threads myself it appears that the codes work Very well and the Chances of your Player or Recorder becoming damaged by the use of the codes is very Minimal....Read All the Threads first..... and Give them a Try!

If you feel the Options covered on the Thread are to much for you to attempt then the Only Options (Besides not Bothering) you have left is "Chipping".... A Google Search will help you Find a "Chipping Company"...or a Panasonic Main Dealer will also be able to help you.

One thing I can confirm for Definate

All Panasonic Players and Recorders Cannot be Hacked with the Handset Supplied with the Player ...not without some sort of Firmware Modiication first.

I`ve not got that one, yet, but I bought the dmr-60d which has everything but the VCR and bought my daughter the equivalent that has everything but the HDD. Both seem excellent buys.

Don`t expect to be able to copy your old VHS films to DVD though. As they are killing off VHS I would have thought they would allow us to transfer, but no. Copyright protection prevents it. I`ve spent a fortune on tapes I soon won`t be able to play.

Well I`ve spent me money, got it from Digital Direct for £439 which is the lowerest price I`ve seen anywhere apart from you all who got it from QVC but it was never on when I watched. Have to say it`s the bee`s knee`s so far, not played with it much yet but I`m well pleased. I`ve not noticed any humming sounds from it though, shame it can`t record to the harddrive 2 programs at once when it can play and record at the same time.
going by the connection diagram, I`ve found I can`t watch my cable box if I`m recording (from the freeview that is), so I`ve had to put an additional scart between the cable box and the TV.

Do you know if you can edit what you have recorded onto the HDD (making and deleting chapters etc) on this appliance?

Really interested in purchasing if you can!

Yes you can, I recorded a film for a friend and watched it afterwards putting chapters where I thought was a good break, also at the start and end of adverts (film was on ITV). All I did then was go into the HDD, select the film and show chapters, each one is shown as a picture so I deleted the advert chapters and burnt it to disc. The chapters now allow him to fastforward through the film at will. It also does playlists but I haven`t had time to play with them yet but I would guess it would allow me to make a chapter menu for scene selection just like a proper DVD.

Only problem I have had so far with it is a error code EU80 has come up about 3 times before Xmas but as Panansonic said it would need to be returned I didn`t bother as I didn`t want to lose it over xmas, it`s not done it since so I think I frighten it! ha ha
Have to say though pleased as punch with it, even the wife is impressed!
