I APPRECIATE WHAT YOU`RE GOING THROUGH! I HAD A PHILIPS DVDR70 AND HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS.HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD THE 980? CAN YOU GET IT REPLACED OR YOUR MONEY REFUNDED? I BOUGHT A PANNY DMR HS2 LAST FRIDAY.IT`S A CRACKING MACHINE.

:( Hello,

I read that you too had the freeze-up problem with the Phillips 980 DVD machine. I also get the message >>ab ff doe 66<< and cannot turn on my machine! What is wrong? Please help immediately if you know the cure!

Thanks.

You`ve been screwed by static. A reset might help, and as far as I know, most Philips machines reset by holding down the standby and open/close buttons on the front of the machine while you plug it in (after unplugging for at least 20 seconds). If the machine doesn`t ask Is The TV On? or doesn`t start looking for tv channels again, then you`ll have to get an engineer out.

Hi guys get your reciept out if you have bought the 980-880 machine in the last two years get in contact with phillips .The glue that was used to hold the laser unit in place has failed. This is what happened to my 880 and many others from the 980-880 series .Phillips have extended the guarentee to two years.Your machine will be repaired with a new laser unit and if you have proof of purchase it will only cost you the postage back to phillips if the shop you bought it from wont send it back for you.check out the .......DVDPLUSRW.ORG forum you will find all the info about the failure and repair.fw600vj
