POLL: Where are you from?

RJS (undefined) posted this on Tuesday, 6th September 2011, 13:09

Inspired by this interesting piece on how some accents have shifted across the UK, I thought might be a good time to see where people are from, and if there really are two Scotsmen for every other member. :)

I`m from East sussex, and never knew I had an accent til I worked in a call centre in Warwickshire, I was amazed at how many people knew I was from around here just by chatting lol!

<koff> across Inga-Lund, it doesn`t show Scotland and wales is a white out (although mentioned in the article) and Ireland aint even on there!

I`m actually from the North East, but live in Wales. Everyone down here remarks that after 21 years "You haven`t lost your accent", however when I go home they take the P*ss for speaking with a Welsh accent!!!

Hmph....as per usual anything above Birmingham is `the North` ...bloody southerners lol

Yorkshire born and bred (thats in `the North` for those of you down South) now live in the North East..so I suppose still classed as `the North` I used to have a very strong Yorkshire accent and got the **** taken out of me constantly, now I seem to speak Yorkshire with a slight North East twang..much to my annoyance.

It is, I`ve known that since I was a kid :)

Although the Watford Gap is traditionally recognised as division separating north and south

ignore the rest of that page it`s irrelevant, there you go black and white, on the internet FACT. North of Watford is up North, Birmingham may as well be Scotland as far as I`m concerned.

I went to Rotherham once, the only thing I remember about the place was thinking "It`s true what they say, it is grim up north" ;)

Had to go for `Other` - No North West (You`ve got South West & South East!)

There`s life outside London!

The country gets skinnier as you go North, not my fault! And you assuming London is the entire South-East is just as bad. :)
