Have the police gone mad?

Cant quite believe this!

Around 4 weeks ago at work I`m sat at some traffic light minding my own business with a bus full of passengers when a patrol car with light and siren going comes peggin it around the corner, not wanting to hold them up I jumped the red light and got out the way, It wasn`t a particularly dangerous maneuver as all other traffic had come to a standstill... Anyhow, they went and I waited while cars moved around me until the lights went to green off I go and thought nothing more about it..... UNTIL this morning when a letter drops on the mat £60, 3 points AND they may want to take me to court because I was in a bus when i jumped the red light......

Seriously, have the old bill and courts gone f***ing mad?

Beggars belief.......!

I can only assume it`s an automated letter from a red light jumping camera.
One would hope to get off when the circumstances have been explained although I wouldn`t hold my breath!

Aye, bit f***ing stupid that. Just another reason example of how s*** cameras are, what with not having the ability to assess the situation and make a judgement based on all of the available facts and that.

Well, yesterday I got another parking ticket for loading in a loading bay for 5 minuets. My letter contesting this has gone off.

Good luck on getting yours overturned Dusty.

Gents forgot to mention, it was the in car camera that`s nailed me >:( which leads me to believe that the copper driving it is a d******* for raising this when I was only trying to get out the way!

This is the sort of thing the Daily Mail just love....I`d be inclined to drop them a note ;)

Companies that have p**sed me off so much that I will never use them again and I hope you dont either....
Jacks Fish & Chips of Cambridge ridiculously overpriced and overpackaged chips. £1.20 for a stupidly small portion of chips - they need to go up north for a good lesson in fish and chips
Alloy Bodies of Manchester - The Grand Daddy & Benchmark for shockingly poor customer service.
Capital Bank Leasing who are part of [B]BOS
& are f**ing useless & struggle to action the smallest request but are fantastically efficient at taking money out of my account
[B]Abbey National
Absolutely diabolical service - how hard is it to change £60 of coins into notes????
....more coming soon no doubt.....

There was a case a year or two ago where a very similar thing happened to a guy waiting at red lights. He crossed the lights to let an ambulance go by and subsequently got a ticket. It caused a bit of a stink at the time (this may have been a local not national story - can`t remember?). Anyhoo, the upshot is you CAN be done for `jumping` the lights even if you are getting out of the way for emergency services/police and complaining about it won`t get you anywhere! It`s not fair, I agree but in future, don`t move for anyone. Marksparks I`m sure will be able to clarify.

Sure, while you Quote:

that doesn`t mean you WILL be done. Common sense should prevail and I`d like to think that complaining will get you somewhere.. Surely, if it got that far, any decent magistrate would just throw it out. I can`t believe it would get that far though..
