Myspace account holders please read URGENT

Pete-MK (Elite Donator) posted this on Saturday, 27th October 2007, 19:25

Within the last 6 hours hackers have released the details of 70,000 phished myspace account details and are in the process of screwing with as many of them as possible.

These attacks are varying in degrees of maliciousness. Ranging from putting indecent and illegal images* in albums to re-writing the welcome messages as suicide notes. (I read one claiming to be the user`s mother, having found her daughter hanged and blaming one of the user`s online friends as the cause).

I`ve alerted myspace, but i think they may already have an inkling of what`s going on. If you have an account, please go and check it now, changing your password for a while would probably be beneficial too.

(*the hackers in question deliberately collect illegal images on their PCs for attacks.)

No Story. A phishing e-mail (much like the ebay scams) was sent out several times, and myspace accounts were collected, and have been released to the pricks that will abuse them. As for source, you`ve got mail.

I`d rather they didn`t. This isn`t a PC problem, it`s a general announcement/warning.

What form was the phishing mail in? I got a couple the last day or so (as normal) stating that someone wanted to be added and another that someone on my list had a birthday but I always just delete those and check it out from the main page.

Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn...

And those who dance will spin and turn,
And those who wait will wait no more,
And those who talk will hear the words,
And those who see will fade and die,
And those who laugh will surely fall,
And those who know will always feel their backs against the thin wall...

I have absolutely no idea. I`d assume it was similar to the ol` ebay phishing mails, sending the member to a cleverly designed `login` page.

I know very little about the ins and outs of what`s going on, or how it all started. I know as much as everyone else, except I don`t actually have a myspace account myself. I just heard about the attacks and I`m only trying to help.

No real addition to the paypal thing (Apart from it was mainly in America, as the phishing scam involved the potential of a free Macy`s card). I Just though I`d like you to know that the same people that hacked all the myspace accounts are currently voting on the Kerrang website for Britain`s sexiest female. The name they`re submitting is Madeline McCann. You also might have heard recently about a young girl with Leukemia who`s blog was filled with death threats recently? Yup, same people.

The Internet - it`s great.

(The authorities know about these people, they just don`t seem to be doing much about them)
