Page 1 of Just called the Police to report someone....

Driving home and there was car infront with his right indicator on but went from the right lane to the left. Then he just came back again. Then drove a while straddling the 2 lanes. Then was wavering between the two. We got to a roundabout and I went to the right of him.. he was well p***ed and just had a fag hanging off his bottom lip with glazed eyes. I pulled away and called the Police. Gave them the reg., car make/model and my location. They also wanted my name and address (is that if they need to contact me? - would have preferred anonymous).
Will they try and get a car en route and try to intercept? Or even if they don`t get him can they go to his house and get him there? Or would they then need me to identify that I saw him driving?

they will indeed try and intercept him... and if you are willing to give a statement identifying the driver/description and his actions they may prosecute...

if he denies driving then it may go to what we call PROMAT, its a video line up of the suspect and upto 11 other persons similar to him, to see if you can pick him out?

well done anyway, too many people still beleive its acceptable to drink and drive... or at least turn a blind eye to it!

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

Unless you phoned from a public phone box the Police will have your name & address. I`ve also done the same in the past.

If you report someone and are then called as a witness to court do they cover any expenses or lost earnings as they do for jury service.
