How do you propose getting a work visa? Is an employer going to sponsor your application? You`re limited to 90 days on a tourist visa.

Snookums :)

Just make sure you do not take any Cat Stevens (Yusef Islam) albums with you and you should be alright.
Otherwise you may win a free all expenses trip to Guantanamo Bay.

Arrive, marry & apply for residency, as long as you landed legally your covered*.

Unless your already married in which case, the above advise won`t work.

From the Emigrate 2005 show at Sandown.

Alternatively have a business in the UK, set up a new one in the US & transfer yourself from one (unconnected) branch to the other.

I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

My brother in law moved over there a few years ago doing the touring round thing. He loved it & eventually met a girl from Baltimore & they`re now married. He found that people were more than willing to help him, were very hospitable & extremely sociable. TBH, he`s quite a shy person so this surprised all of us. We went out there a couple of years ago to see him in Baltimore & again were shocked by how accomodating & freindly everybody was to us. He is a grafter & this kind of attitude seems to sit well with the American`s he now finds he socialises with. Good luck with it all anyway... :)

He also has a Brit accent (they love that as well).

:D
He had the broadest North Yorkshire accent I ever heard so they probably took pity on him rather than admired him! :D

Cheers for the posts everyone..... :D

I`ve just reached a mid-life crossroads I guess.......one way settle with girlfriend, have kid,be in this same town until at least 60.....etc.....
or....try and do a couple of dreams I`ve always had.....if they don`t work out at least I`ve gone for them.
I have no family so it seems a wasted opportunity to stay in the same town for the rest of my life......like people I see everyday propping the bar up.

Problem is girlfriend has family,is mega broody and would naturally not be keen..... :( .It`s a right one.

Just go!
You won`t be this way again.
Better to have done and possibly failed than live a life of regrets and "maybes".
You aren`t falling off the face of the earth, it is only across the waters. You can always return.
Go!
