Well I got into work hung-over at 10:10 and I`m planning on leaving at 11! Got a 4 hor drive back home to Newcastle from Telford! :(

Merry Xmas

I`m in work until 12. Feel like s*** as it was our works Xmas party last night. All a bit of a blur... I am very fuzzy... Cant wait to go home, get back into bed and watch the season finale of Nip Tuck.

You`ll probably find anyone in a service industry is working,as am I.
It`s more your manufacturing industries that close up early, whilst putting the service industries under pressure at the same time.

"can you come and collect this stuff,oh and we`re closing early"

When you hear that dozens of times in the same day,it becomes tiresome.... >:(

My Mrs starts at 8:00 tonight & finishes at 8:00 tomorrow AM. Then 8:00 Sat night till 8:00 Sun AM...Thanks very much to all the other the people on her shift who she covered for, swapped for, came in at short notice for & generally put herself out for etc, etc. She is the only one on her shift with a child & not one of them will swap over Xmas. BUT, ishe bitter? Not one bit as she keeps reminding me it`s the first time in 7 years she`s actually had Xmas day off so she will see littlun open his gifts, go to bed, get up at 12:00 & spend the rest of that day with us. I wish I could be as grateful as her.

I get so infuriated with a friend of mine at this time of year.
He works for a government department and finished at 1300 yesterday (yes,Thursday).
That`s them until the 4th of January.
On top of ridiculous holidays they get days off for every little thing, but they also get flexi-time as well.
It`s a friggin holiday cap that place. :/
Of course he thinks it`s great but,to me,it`s indicative of the over-staffing of goverment departments.
Seriously,if they can afford to have so many people off,so often, they have a problem and he should worry.

The only saving grace is he`s on s*** money.... :D :p

My old old man works for amtrak and this time of year is simultaniously a blessing and a curse. He`s working, sometimes, 18+ hour shifts.

And thankfully, now the mrs has moved from national ITV to Local she doesnt have to work christmas or new years day anymore, which is nice. I dont know about other people, but having your xmas dinner at 7 o`clock sucks balls.

Yeah, I miss working for the home office, in that respect. Flexi-time was the single greatest thing in the working world and the holidays were brilliant. But that, unfortunately, was countered by s*** pay, having to work for total ball bags and having to put up with whichever Sun influenced government directive they were pushing that week. But, yeah, the holidays were sweet.

Now I just work an average office based 9 - 5.30. At least you know where you are, but holidays are pretty hard to come by.
