What would be your Mastermind "chosen specialized subject"?

Hulk Smash! (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 26th October 2005, 08:32

I only ask because one of mine was on last night (Pink Floyd). I got 13 right (...and that was off the top of my head/no swatting-up :D ).

I`d also have (semi final and final subject just in case...):

- The history of the World Heavyweight Championship 1892 - present
- James Bond (or Dr. Who)

Now if they`d only do away with those damn general knowledge questions... :B

Question for Hulk Smash. A few of us where talking about Bond stuff last night and i said the first Bond film was Casino Royale. Is that true and if so who played Bond. I also tried to trick them and asked who played the very first James Bond. When i told them it was Bob Holness they all p***ed themselfs with laghter. Now i am not a fan but i kind of remember s*** like that when i hear it. Can you enlighten me please?

`The life and career of Muhammad Ali` if I had to choose althought recently it could be `The films of Russ Meyer`! FWIW I always thought the first Bond was Bob Holness who played him on the radio.

Had a dig around and found this.
Quote:
Bob Holness was the second actor to portray James Bond, starring in a 1957 South African radio dramatisation of `Moonraker`.

Technically, Holness was the first Bond when he played him on t`radio.

Flemming`s first book was Casino Royale, but that wasn`t made into a film until 1967 - even then it wasn`t `canon` - it was a spoof.

Peter Sellers and David Niven were amongst those who played 007.

My specialist subject would be... *Dum* *Dum* *DUM*

Materia - combination, effects and levelling in Final Fantasy VII.

And you thought Tekken 3 combos was specialist... ;)

EDIT: So is this the first?

In 1954, CBS paid Ian Fleming $1,000 US for the rights to adapt Casino Royale into a one hour television adventure as part of their Climax! series. The episode featured American Barry Nelson in the role of "Jimmy Bond", who was an agent for the fictional "Combined Intelligence" agency.

In addition to the 1967 film of Casino Royale, it was also adapted for television in 1954 with actor Barry Nelson as an Americanised "Jimmy" Bond.
