I D Cards

Pete-MK (Elite Donator) posted this on Monday, 27th June 2005, 21:07

Forget all the Big Brother paranoia (our maestro cards hold more information about us than we know)

A team of scholars have been analyzing the proposed ID card scheme, and have surmised that the whole thing will cost about £19Billion, which in turn will mean a cost of about £230 per person.

Tony had been on the defensive today, to say `Don`t worry, these estimates are wrong, they`ll only cost about £90`

Only? ONLY??

I don`t WANT an ID card. I think it`s a crap idea and just another reason to get more cash out of average Pete. I don`t have £90 to throw away. Tony says it`ll help with our county`s security, Spain had ID cards for years, still didn`t stop the Madrid Bombings. Every arguement for ID cards can be p***ed all over by the experiences of countries that have had them for years

That`s ok, he`ll make the money back by flogging your personal details from the secret database to companies. I am so anti id cards. Firstly, they wont do anything they are meant to, secondly, the amount of data they propose to put on them is far too much, and thirdly, there is something rather dictatorial about being forced to carry a card everywhere. Hope Blair gets his arse kicked in Parliament!

If Maestro cards already hold loads of data about us (and they didn`t cost us anything) then where the hell does £90 come from!? That`s insane, about 10% of the population will have them at that price

On 5 live this morning someone phoned in with the idea of handing the contract for the cards to Tesco. That way we would get a system that works for half the price and on time. You may even get 2 for 1.

Al the best,

DR 42%er.

It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....

It`s "only" £90 to Big Tone as he lives in the upper echelons.
What a twat. He has no idea of the average person he is supposed to serve
and not rule.

I think we`re all worrying about nothing. Our government has a fine history of getting it right:

CSA computer system £600million or so, would have worked better on Amstrad PCW256(what`s wrong with a nice green display?)

Passport computer system, heaven knows how much. Queues round each of the all too few cities that have a passport office if you actually wanted to go abroad that year.

Child Tax Credits, nearly £2 billion p***ed up the wall. Forms so complex you need a New Jersey lawyer to fill `em in.

Etc, etc, etc

Anyone who wants to add to the list feel free.................you`ll probably be taxed for that to soon.

ID cards...
Cameras that can track our car,by registration, anywhere in the country...
CCTV...
Hoody tops that can hide your face banned...

It`s amazing no-one saw this coming decades ago and wrote a book about it.
