Best game you played in 2014?

Again doesn't have to be a 2014 release, mainly because otherwise I'd not have much to say. :) Just has to be a game you played for the first time.

I didn't play much this year, but I did finally get a 3DS and I did play through and complete Luigi's Mansion 2, which was good fun and as enjoyable as the original on the GC (another of those rare games I completed).

I don't play much either but I did put some time into Destiny on the PS4 when I got one for my birthday.  I'm still playing it now (or I would be if the PSN network wasn't down) and enjoying the online aspect very much.

I might have to get that when its on-sale, I'd have probably got it already if I didn't already have so much, including Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs...

Sniper Elite V2 . Been playing for about two or three months now and absolutely love the game. Kill cam is quite enjoyable when you get the x-ray of the bullet passing through the body  After a while I thought ach tae hell with it, I will get the DLC "Kill Hitler". FFS took about five or ten minutes to complete so that is the only downside . Got myself Sniper Elite 3 from Game (Download via steam ) for £11.50 so saved about £15 by going through the Game store website. Worth a shop around as I was considering getting it at £26.50 from the Steam Store Sale !!
Anywhoo, back to double headshots and home brew

The game I've enjoyed the most was Shadow of Mordor. I've run through it twice now, once on my old PC and again on the new one with all graphical options maxed out. It's really good fun and taking on dozens of enemies at once is very satisfying.

I also enjoyed Far Cry 4; completed the main campaign but still have loads of side missions left. I've just (last couple of days) replayed Tomb Raider and enjoyed it a lot the second time around. Very pretty game maxed out, although not quite as nice as the PS4 definitive edition from what I've seen. I'm also replaying Wolfenstein and Shadow Warrior. I've bought Bioshock Infinite in the Steam sale but not played much of it yet. It does look very nice though. I still have the redux versions of the Metro games to play as well.

The latest Call of Duty was what I expected, which is to say pretty but shallow and unfulfilling. That's probably the weakest thing I've played this year.
