Just found the I Am Legend trailer over at Apple.

I haven`t gotten round to reading the book yet but the trailer looks pretty good to me.

Won the book a couple of years ago, great read. Just hope they don`t do a hollywood ending otherwise they`re missing the whole point...

Is it just me or is this film actually about the last man in New York instead of the world?

Kind of defeats the point :/

I like!

The trailer does say last man on earth, so doesn`t look like they`ve changed that. It would be a bit s*** if he was globe trotting around, so makes sense he`s kind of confinded to New York, haven`t read it so don`t know what the craic is in that.

There`s a couple of shots of the destroyed bridge, maybe they`re going with a, can`t get out of New York so doesn`t really know about the rest of the world, kind of thing.

Is he last man in the world in the book?, Is the book worth reading?

If I remember rightly, you never actually learn if Neville is the last human. He assumes he is, as does the reader, but he`s unable to travel too far from his home. Saying that, it has that title for a reason, and the vampires certainly believe him to be the last of an extinct breed.

It`s a great book, and from what I`ve read about the movie (and now seen in the trailer) it looks pretty faithful, aside from some superficial changes. I`m not too sure about the New York setting though; part of the theme of the book was in how the suburban LA setting meant Neville came face to face with a skewed version of his old life, ie, his former friends and neighbours, every night. They might be able pull that off if the actual city setting is just for hunting/supplies, and he`s holed up during the day in the `burbs.

I`m certainly looking forward to it!

Thats exactly what I said. Apparently its more like the heston version than the book, rendering the title pointless as he becomes a legendary monster with the new breed of humans/vampires, painting him to be as bad as they are in a lot of ways.

His is legend amongst them.

They will probably try and shoehorn it in somewhere, but it will be bollocks.

And, yeah, the book is worth reading, mainly because its a good non-gay vampire novel, which is a rarity.

Personally, I`ve never read the book, but found the trailer incredibly interesting.

Would have been nice not to have had the whole `vampires` thing spoiled for me though... :D
