RE: Philips DVD728 No S-Video Dilemma

Cheers dude,

I`m just weighing up my options.

The wife finds it hard enough to cope as it is, with the amp and the consoles, sky etc etc. She had just got used to using the amp as means to get the pic and sound for the dvd.

I may just take it back and swap it. What do ya reckon?

I need a multi-region one for less than £100.

Philips DVD728 No S-Video Dilemma

Hi,

I just bought a Philips DVD728 and to my horror when I got it out of the box I realised there was no S-Video socket.

I need S-Video to hook it up to my surround Amp. My question is, If I get a scart to S-Video lead will it give me a picture? If it did I would then use my amp for the sound.

Thanx in advance!!

RE: Help with new 6.1 ex/es bla bla bla

Cheers everyone,
I`ve got Gladiator and didn`t think it was.
I`ve also got Nemo, but me mums got it at mo. I`ll get it back off her and watch it again with the kids.
Se7en`s a good film, so I`ll get that and continue my search. Do you reckon more films will be using this new technoligy? I hope I havent spent money on a new amp that wasn`t necessary!!

RE: I need some help on buying a Dolby Digital Amplifier

I cant remember where I read the review but it slated it. Ive just had a look for it again on tinterner bit as always, u can never find summat when you want it.
Its certainly a nice looking machine (so the wife will like it) but they said it struggled. If I find the review I`ll add it to this thread.

I need some help on buying a Dolby Digital Amplifier

I currently have a Kenwood KRFV7030D but I want to upgrade to 6.1..
I have approx £300 (£350 at a stretch) to spend on a new amp. I want it to be 6.1 and all that ES and Prol Log 2 and all that carry on. IT MUST have Super VHS monitering (so I can run all me consoles through it) and it must be silver (how gay is that? missus for ya!)
I nearly bought this one, but the review was a bit pooey!
Yamaha DSP-AX640SE: £399.95

So what do ya reckon I should get. All advise and opinions appreciated!

region hack for toshiba sd110e

Does anybody know if there is a hack for this model? If so I`d be grateful if you could pass it on.

Cheers!!

RE: HELP PS2 dvd

CHEERS FOR ALL THOSE THAT ANSWERED. MY MATE CAN COPY TO VHS USING HIS OLD PLAYSTATION 1 SCART CABLE. I DIDN`T BELIEVE HIM UNTIL I SAW IT MYSELF. I WENT HOME AND TRIED IT AND GUESS WHAT, IT DOESN`T WORK ON MINE????????? WEIRD

SUPPPOSE I`LL HAVE TO FORK OUT A FEW QUID AND GET A PLUG IN.

RE: How to set up Dolby Digital on Toshiba 32ZD98B?

I don`t have the Tosh T.V but I set them up for a living, I`ve not done one for a while but I`ve got a couple of ideas.

1) There might be a scart socket tosh recomend, have a look in the instructions.
2) Your lead might be faulty, try using a normal phono lead just to test this.
3) You may have to set your DVD to output Dolby Dig, have a mess around in the dvd menu.

You should be able to test if your watching in Dolby by switching over channels and then coming back to it. (message will appear at top of screen)

Sorry if these don`t work, I`ts hard remembering without the stuff in front of you!

I hope you get it sorted

HELP PS2 dvd

Does anyone know how to record DVD`s onto VHS via a PS2? I`ve heard it`s possible but I`ve had a go and cannot seem to crack it. If anyone knows how to do it I would be very gratefull if you could let us know.

Cheers!

RE: Any thought on the Phillips 28PW6322/05 TV?

I install teles for a living and although the 6322 is getting on a bit, its a cracker. We use these for rental stock now and just to give you an idea we are selling an ex-rental one for £299 so my advice is go for it, but get the waruntee cause you don`t know who`s had it before you!

RE: is dts much better than dolby digital 5.1

The only disc I have with both dd and dts is Gladiator and to me both sound as good as each other

RE: Another question for MikeG !

I`m not an expert and cannot answer your first bit but my opinion over svhs and rgb is that svhs just seems to clear up a few rough edges. My player is an Lg3200e and T.V is a philips 36 flat screen (quite large), when watching through RGB I noticed if I had the On Sreen menu (dvd) up there was a fuzzy digital image around all the writing. If I switched to Svhs this fuzzyness dissapeared, this also improved clarity of images on films.

RE: Philips DVD 761 ?

I can`t be bothered cheking myself but is there nothing on the remote hacks page?

RE: Philps Widescreen T.V.`s

Bobski,

Just as I`d sorted the colour problem - last night I noticed a line going vertically down the screen!!!!!!!!!!! It`s only when watch DVD`s and PS2, it`s about 2inches thick and runs down the right hand side of the screen. I`m the only person in the house that can see it (the missus thinks I`m mad!) But innit true - wants youve seen it, it bugs the s**t out of you!

RE: The big 100hz/50hz debate - what`s your view ?

I`ve got Philips 36, natural motion looks good on DVD`s but the set struggles when watching SKY and normal T.V. it looks like it`s missing frames sometimes.

there are 2 other viewing options on the philips sets and these 2 aren`t as good as natural motion

RE: So,....Yamaha VS10 or Sony HTK 215 ???

I`ve got neither, but heard both. Personaly I`d go for Sony, can`t give you a technical reason why but I just prefered the overall sound!!

Dolby Digital!!! what amps etc have you got and how do you find them!

Ive just got a Kenwood KRFV 7030D only £200 and it absoulutley rocks, persronaly I think buying an amp and speakers is not much more expensive than buying these Sony all in things and are much more powerful. I dont want to knock sony`s kit but people should be aware of great amps like KRF7030d and how cheap they are now.

Anyone with similar views or does anyone totaly disagree??

RE: Sony home theatre kit (HTK 215)

Yes, yes, yes as long as there is either a co-ax or a toslink you can receive both 5.1 and DTS and you will love it!

RE: green screen help...

The best way, I`ve found to connect up the PS2 for both games and film`s is by using a S-VHS lead. I had a nightmare getting hold of one (had to drive 80 miles) but I pressume they are more easily available now. If your T.V. does not have an S-Vhs input try another scart socket on you T.V. If you still have no joy mail us on kuelbmit[at]moc.liamtoh

RE: Watch LG and Brands electronics - they give you old for new

I`ve just received my new machine and it seems to be O.K. and it is brand new. If it wasn`t boxed and brand new the delivery guy would have had it straight back on the van and I`d have been on the blower to Brands kicking up a storm. As a consumer, if you buy goods that aren`t satisfactory or malfunction under guruntee the goods should either be a) fixed or b) replaced for brand new, not some second hand crap that somebody has already had and sent back!

RE: Philps Widescreen T.V.`s

Cheers sam,

There`s no speaker near it, but I think I`ve sussed it. We`ve recently had our room re-plastered and the guys that did it have attached some metal to an edge of the wall to straighten it. I`ve got a feeling that this is the reason, problem is the T.V. is so damn big there`s knowhere else it can go. Nevermind, cheers again!

RE: Does anyone know anything about Dolby Digital amps?

Cheers for that, I`ll look into it!

Does anyone know anything about Dolby Digital amps?

I`ve just got a dolby digital amp and it has Viveo Switching on it. I think I`ve figured it out and everything is know running through the amp, except SKY. Is there anyway you can convert the scart socket on the sky box into S-Vhs on the amp or am I just dreaming. Please help.

Tim

Philps Widescreen T.V.`s

I`ve got a PhilipsPW36 9525 and the bottom left corner is discoloured. Ive tried everything to shift it - degousing wand, unplugging it etc. I`m on my third set now and my retailer is probably getting very annoyed with me but there is no reason for the set to discolour. Has any body else suffered with this problem, help, please!
