RE: Help! Amp turns itself off mid-film!

Thing is, it only happens on DVD`s. I play the CD player through the amp a lot & the telly through the amp quite a bit and have never had a problem with them.
Would you still say it`s most likely the speakers? Also the speakers don`t plug into the amp. The speakers plug into the sub using normal speaker cable & then there`s an "umbilical cord" (their words, not mine) to connect the amp to the sub.

RE: Help! Amp turns itself off mid-film!

Yeah, that`s what I thought.
The connection between dvd & amp is using a coaxial (qed qunex sr75). I`m pretty sure the speakers (mission fs2av) are a good match for the amp - I did some research before I bought them & was told they went together well.

If it makes any difference, I`ve had this set up for 2 years & I`ve only noticed this problem in the last 3 months or so.

Help! Amp turns itself off mid-film!

I have a 5.1 set up using a Panasonic RV40 DVD player & a Denon AVR 1602 amp. On some discs the amp just puts itself into standby! It tends to happen at intensive parts of the film (i.e. the opening sequence in LOTR II where gandalf is fighting the balrog - it happened 4 times on that scene).
Are there any home cinema technical experts out there who know what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Top 100 Britons

It`s all a load of bollox.
I mean, I`m not even on it!

Lol.

RE: X-Men 2

"and the guy who was Geena Davis` mentor in Long Kiss Goodnight is in it"
What Samuel L Jackson? Really?

Or the old guy who wasn`t in it for long - the one I can`t remember what he looks like!

RE: DO NOT READ JUST B4 BED

"And that nice sales man is down the pub with £20

So £270 + £20 = £290"

Nope, the trick is that is should be:

So £270 - £20 = £250

(They`ve overpaid by £20 - `cos the manager nicked it to go down the pub) & the 250 correspnds to the amount in the till. It`s down to the wording & you not questioning the signs in the equation - just the numbers.

RE: Welsh Subtitles

Toby

Just out of interest, if you`re not a welsh speaker then why does it bother you so much?
That aside, I think you have a very valid point. I`ll sign ya petition.

P.S. I`m not welsh either - but then neither was Vinny Jones.

RE: Play.com

Really.

Not heard of them before!

RE: Eight Legged Freaks Hooray !!!

Not heard of this film before. What`s it about?

Lol!

RE: CDWOW £1 off links??

There was a £1 offer kicking around, but it ended on 31 July.
If there is another, then I`d like to know too!

RE: Who`s The Daddy !

congratulations

RE: Customs getting stuffed!

That`s an ironic username then, as top cat (in the cartoon) was a tramp!

RE: Is there more to this ??

Lol.
Apparently Elvis lives in a bus on the moon.

RE: Where`s a cheap place for Xbox games?

Bill

I don`t have any Oz xbox games myself, but have heard on several forums from people that do & that they work fine. There should be no probs as there are only 3 regions for xbox (unlike the 6 for DVDs), it goes something like North America, Japan, Rest of World.

RE: Hailing golf balls in Nottingham at the moment AN SKY DOES`NT WORK!

`ere Clayts, someone nipped out in the hailstorm & nicked a hubcap off your car!

RE: Where`s a cheap place for Xbox games?

Cheers agassi.
Got david beckham soccer for £17.99 (I know it`s not great - but neither are FIFA & ISS2 & at £18 you can`t go too wrong).
Ordered it at about 5pm yesterday & it arrived this morning (now that`s quick) & it came with a free DVD on `goals of the 98 world cup`.

RE: Where`s a cheap place for Xbox games?

www.devoted.com.au/

They do `em for Aus$81 (ex gst), so with an exchange rate of 2.87 - this comes to about £30 with postage.

(we are the same region as Oz)

RE: Best and Worst adverts at the mo

Chewie: the zoom zoom is mazda. But, the most irritating by far is (it`s a tie) either the Iceland (buy one get one free - a high pitch voice) or Burger King (with that annoying tw*t).

As for the best, I know it`s no longer on, but I really did like the Nike World Cup ads.

RE: Best Music Line Up in Europe EVER!!!!!!

I saw Green Day on Weds at Wembley and (despite being made to feel quite old by the number of teenagers in the audience) they were great.

RE: USA X-BOX GAMES

There are 3 regions.
It goes kinda like this:

North America
Asia
Rest of the world

You have to get it chipped to play US discs.

On the up side, if you find a cheap Oz supplier you can get cheaper discs. Devoted do `em for about Aus$90 - which works out at just over £30 after shipping & ex gst, etc.
This is quite good for new relaeases which are usually about £40 at cheapest over here.

RE: So how did you get your username then?

jubbly:
No idea really - just came to mind.
Maybe from the expression "nice pair of jubblies" - but that would mean I was referring to myself as a tit. hmmm may have to rethink that one.

I was in Tunisia once, walking through the medina (narrow market thingy where unsuspecting tourists usually get stitched up or robbed) & one of the traders shouted "luvvly jubbly fish & chips" to me (well I thought it was funny). It`s a common tactic - if you laugh they know you`re a brit & charge accordingly (they base their prices on peoples nationality you see).

On a related topic, I was in a market in Goa once and one of the traders (who was probably only about 8 yrs old!) said "I give you dog`s bollox price" - I thought that was funny too!

RE: 2002 World Cup Final: NIKE vs ADIDAS (again!!!!!)

Well at least we`ve had some warning. He`s been complaining about his thigh injury for a few days now.
Watching the brazil v turkey game I was left with the feeling that brazil have no strength in depth up front. Edilson was crap throughout & the others they bought on looked clueless (denilson & luizao). Rivaldo gave up passing to `em & kept to pot shots in the end.

RE: Drivers, Give it a GOOD shake! !

Maybe he means in their working life - he doesn`t say lose £300 per yr.
How about £300/40 yrs = 14p a go - now that`s more like it.

RE: XBOX MOD CHIPS ABOUT TO FLOOD THE MARKET !

If you`re looking to fence the stuff you nick, I`ll give you a fiver for a widescreen tv!

RE: What are the best ten movies to exploit my 5.1 system????

The Flumps - Complete Series 1: the episode where Pootle gets a rocket launcher for his birthday & guns down the rest of the family. C`mon you all remember it.

RE: £10 off Magazine subscriptions offer

Has anyone done this through kelkoo?
I tried & it just takes you back to emagazineshop & the offer is on a £20 spend not £15.

RE: XBOX MOD CHIPS ABOUT TO FLOOD THE MARKET !

...unless there`s a ginger revolution!

RE: XBOX MOD CHIPS ABOUT TO FLOOD THE MARKET !

--What option - apart from piracy - does a console-owning youngster have now?--

When I was a kid (I`m 26 now), the games were about £10 a pop (for my Amstrad!), but managed to buy plenty without resorting to piracy or theft.
How about hard work? Paper round, car washing, mowing the lawn....

The future doesn`t look so bright if all our youth are scared of a bit of hard work.

RE: XBOX

All the reviews say it`s crap. Add to that the screen shots on the box that look like PS1 quality!

Try Max Payne. Am most the way through & am thoroughly enjoying it.
Also having fun with NHL2002 - great game.
