RE: Xbox 360 Arcade £99.99

When Sony officially announced the new 3000 model at the end of August they said it should be October 15th. If so, you`d have thought GAME would be telling people since it`s quite soon. Most average punters probably won`t know the difference though.

RE: Xbox 360 Arcade £99.99

They`re also expected to drop the price of the Nintendo Wii during the same period.

Great deals! (If you can actually find one in-store)

RE: Forza 2 on XBOX 360 only £9.99......

Actually, Japan got a demo of GT5 Prologue (I know - how many prologues and demos do they need?). Meant to be pretty good, you could always make a Japanese PSN account and download it that way. Probably easy enough to keep pressing X on the menus until it takes you into a race!

RE: 360 + 2 Games @ Argos £174.50

You don`t have an HDTV or broadband? Go for a Core then, for sure.

Actually since Halo is a MS Game Studios game (created 2nd party by Bungie) it`s quite possible you might be able to get it free or at least very close to free with a console. When the Elite was released the other week most retailers were throwing in Blue Dragon with it (another 2nd party MSGS game) since it was released at the same time and MS had a deal with it to try and shift copies of a JRPG on the 360.

The only thing going against getting a free copy is the fact that you`re going for a Core and as you`ve already seen most retailers aim the Core system at the casual market, so bundle family games in with it, whereas Halo 3 is pretty much *the* game for the hardcore 360 owner this year. Still, as you suggested, you`ll probably be able to trade in the games you get with the Core and put their value towards Halo 3, probably just leaving you to pay a few quid difference.

I would still say wait, since it`s only 19 days away and there might be better offers. It`s also rumoured that MS might be rebranding the Core as the "Xbox 360 arcade" and bundling it with a few of their Xbox Live Arcade games - doubt this would be in time for Halo 3 though since MS haven`t even officially announced it.

RE: 360 + 2 Games @ Argos £174.50

This isn`t a great deal IMO. You`ve saving a few quid on the cost of the Core system but getting a terrible game (FF2) and a decent game (Viva Pinata) with it. Most stores should be doing Cores with better games for the RRP of £179.99, a few quid more than this Argos offer.

With a Core system you will *need* to buy an additional memory card (start at about £20) to save your games at least, since the Core has no memory to store stuff. Without a hard drive you won`t be able to download extra maps for Halo 3 or anything like that as they will be too big for the memory card (Rainbow Six: Vegas map packs are around 500Mb for example).

Assuming Halo 3 is pretty much the reason you`re buying a 360, my advice is wait until September 26th and pick yourself up a Premium system (the one in the white box) and you`ll probably be able to get Halo 3 free with it since all the retailers will be doing deals with it.

Just so you know, the Premium has this over the Core system:

20Gb Hard Drive
Wireless controller (once you go wireless you`ll feel dirty using a wired controller)
360 Headset
Ethernet cable (for hooking up to Live, but it`s just a standard ethernet cable)
HD AV cable - doubles up as a standard composite AV cable and an HD component cable, so you don`t need to buy a seperate cable if you`ll be using it on an HD TV.

Find it difficult to recommend the Core to anyone tbh unless their budget simply doesn`t stretch to a premium system. Main reason for that is in my experience about 90% of people who buy a Core end up buying a headset and hard drive in the first 6 months of owning their 360 because they realise what they`re missing out on with Xbox Live, and the cost of just those 2 items is more than the price difference between core and premium.

Happy shopping, hope that helped!

RE: PS3 UK 60GB Inc Del For............£359.98! This weekend only.

It`ll be £350 RRP by Xmas, or a pack-in for £425 with a couple of big Xmas titles.

RE: Nintendo Wii available in (some) Argos stores - Reservation available

Meh, our online store is so seperate from the brick and mortar stores it might as well be a different company. Our prices are usually different too.

RE: Nintendo Wii available in (some) Argos stores - Reservation available

Main reason I smile when I tell people I work for Gamestation. Our prices might not always be the lowest (can`t beat the bulk-buying of supermarkets) but we never, ever force people into bundles. Nothing makes me feel more superior than when a customer comes in and tells us they managed to get hold of a Wii, and then that it cost them £420 for the pleasure over the road at GAME (this is what our local GAME was charging at launch, they were even trying to rope pre-order customers into it).

RE: Nintendo Wii available in (some) Argos stores - Reservation available

Ah, modchips. I thought you meant a chip in the Wii was "going" within a week, as in breaking :P

RE: Nintendo Wii available in (some) Argos stores - Reservation available

What do you mean about the chip going in it? Just interested as a Wii owner.

RE: HOUSE M.D. Season 2 - For £14.89 Delivered

Cheers for the spot, that`s my dad`s birthday sorted!

RE: Xbox 360 Premium £203 delivered

AFAIK you`re not really importing since it`s the same PAL machine bought from within the EU (I`m assuming you`re in the UK). However, you`d most likely have to send it back to Amazon.de if it broke which would probably be costly.

RE: 3rd Rock From The Sun - Complete

Thanks for the find, have ordered but I remember Amazon mis-pricing this before and then cancelling it for those of us who ordered then.

Let`s hope they`re a bit nicer this time :-)

RE: The Sopranos: Road To Respect (PS2 game) - £7.99

It`s dreadful, no wonder it`s £7.99. It might be worth the price for a fan of the show who needs another fix of the characters, but don`t expect any plot development or anything like that - the creator of the show publicly stated he doesn`t think games can convey story.

RE: Battlestar Galactica Season 1 - £9.99

The House Season 2 Region 2 DVD set is widescreen - Season One is fullscreen, however - so at least you only suffer for the 1st season.

RE: half life 2 xbox £2.99

Worth pointing out that at the moment the trade-in value for HL2 on the xbox at Gamestation is about £6 IIRC, so once you`ve finished it you could save even more money on the next game you buy.

RE: gamestation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I`m confused, that price is just 9p cheaper than in-store. Wow what a bargain!

Xbox 360 + PGR3 and ANY 3 games £339.99

This week only (AFAIK) at Gamestation.

You can save about £120 depending on which games you pick, obviously. Another £20 gets you a 2nd wireless pad too.

RE: Xbox 360: PGR3 + Wireless Controller £20

PC World will probably get in trouble for this as that pack is only to be sold with a new Xbox 360.

Also, the copy of PGR3 that comes in the pack has a huge "NOT TO BE SOLD SEPERATELY" across it and no barcode on the back so most stores probably won`t take it in for trade.

RE: Sony PSP (base pack) and two top games for £134.99

Just remember you`ll need to buy a seperate memory stick if he wants to save his progress :-)

The PSP also sucks for kids, just in case you haven`t paid for it yet.

RE: HMV 3 For £15

Just to be an annoying nerd:

There is *only* a 1 disc version of Serenity, unless you import from Australia.

That is all :-)

RE: DS Lite bundles

You can get a Lite and Sonic Rush for £99.99 at Gamestation. Bearing in mind that the RRP is £99.99 and we (yes, I work there) sell Sonic Rush for £29.99 on its own you`re saving £30.

Might be a better deal online maybe but high street wise I can`t see anyone beating that (fairly sure GAME are £99.99 for the Lite and nothing else).

RE: Nintendo DS lite £89.97 at Asda

Just to let people know who might be thinking about getting a Lite -

I can`t speak for GAME, but I know Gamestation are selling Lites at the RRP of £99.99 but giving a free game from a choice of 5. Four of them look pretty s***, but the fifth is Sonic Rush which by all accounts is an excellent 2D platformer which most places are still selling for £29.99. Seems like a bargain to me.

RE: Curb Your Enthusiasm - Season 1-4 £36.99

Great find, though just as a small heads up it looks like Amazon have increased the price to £41.97

RE: Silver Screen bargains

Thanks for the heads-up, I`ll be sure to check my local store every so often over the next while :-)

RE: Complete 3rd Rock from the Sun - £13.97??

Y`know, after a lot of searching I still couldn`t find an address to e-mail Customer Services from the Amazon.co.uk website. What address did you guys use?

RE: Complete 3rd Rock from the Sun - £13.97??

Same thing has happened to me too.

Is there anything we can do about this? For example, my order now isn`t big enough to qualify for free delivery so they have added a delivery charge. I`m thinking about complaining - at the least I might get free delivery.

RE: Complete 3rd Rock from the Sun - £13.97??

Thanks very much, been a lurker here for over a year now but finally found a bargain on the forum before the website had changed the price back! Registered just to say thanks - hope Amazon honour it!

EDIT: I notice that Amazon are now no longer taking orders for the set - just linking to marketplace sellers.
