RE: Sky HD - Should I cancel?

RE: Sky HD - Should I cancel?
posted by bowfer on Thursday, 12th August 2010, 11:50
I have everything.
SKY HD with every possible package in the living room.
Then SKY+ with mirror package (minus HD channels obviously) in the bedroom.
I`m £76 a month, which I really don`t think is bad at all.
I`d rather pay less, of course I would, but for the quantity and quality of programming and the excellent functionality of the equipment, I think it`s good value.
I class SKY as a necessity, I really wouldn`t want to do without it, ever.
In that respect, I don`t know at what price level I would say "I`m out".

Is this a serious reply? £76 is good value for the repeats and lame films? (i dont know about the sports side as i dont watch it)

There`s plently of quantity if you count each showing of a particular programme, but not much quality, i know they made the Terry Pratchett stuff, and according to Wiki "Sky also co-produces The 4400 and co-financed the first season of Battlestar Galactica.". That isn`t really a lot if you think of all the money they have coming in

RE: Argos Sale - Creative Zen 20Gb MP3 Player £110

to full reset you need to insert the paperclick AND hold the play button - but this DOES REMOVE EVERYTHING

i took mine back and the 30gb one from Play.com - and its lovely (ok £80 more, but soooo worht it - it plays divx! and you can connect to TV as well - i bought a cable on ebay for around £6)

LiteOn HC1105 - soundtrack slip?

hi there

i am experiencing soundtrack slippage in lots of my recordings. is this likely to be the recorder/player being faulty?

it happens on downloads and recorded from TV?

WANTED: Portable player for AVIs (Divx)

does anyone know of a cheapish reasonably good portable player for avi`s? with ot without dvd playing capability (needs to be multiregionable)...

possibly with add-able storage ??

Willow : I knew it. I knew it. Well, not in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn`t know

RE: DivX, MPEG4, avi.....?

as far as i am aware (might be wrong) Divx is the same as AVI

I bought a liteOn 1105HC from svp.co.uk (i love this company, and i love ebuyer - great service from both of them) and it plays avi`s -

good:
records from TV
picture quality fine
east multi region hack

bad:
it is annoying there is no menu when you have a load of Avi`s on the disk
slow to respond sometimes
occasionally does not read disks - tried to record Dr who the other night, but it failed as could not read disk, but read same disk on next recording -

Find cheap petrol in your area - email updates

Hi

i was sent a link from a friend for this website.

basically you put in your postcode and it tells you where the cheapest petrol is... i cant see any problems or dodgyness about it, but be careful....

http://www.petrolprices.com

Frequently Asked Questions
How is your fuel data gathered?

Our fuel data is gathered from Fuel Card users. When they purchase fuel with their card, we know what type of fuel they bought and how much it cost. Since there are tens of thousands of fuel card users in the UK, we are able to update our prices at around 8,000 stations each and every working day.

How many garages are listed?

There are just over 10,000 open garages that we are aware of currently in the United Kingdom. These are listed on the site.

How are your average fuel prices calculated?

The average fuel prices are a modal average, e.g. the most common selling price for each fuel type. We work this out on a daily basis and update the information daily.

How often is the fuel info updated?

Normally once per day at approximately 8,000 stations.

If you have Data for over 10,000 petrol stations why do you only update 8000 each day - what happens with the rest of the stations?

Remote areas such as Mid Wales, the Scottish Highlands and the Pennines may not be visited by fuel card users on a daily basis, therefore we cannot update our data. However over the course of a week or so, data for all our petrol stations will be updated.

How many searches do I get?

You can search 20 unique areas or postcodes per week. You are able to search for each unique postcode as many times as you like.

How do I get in contact if I have a problem?

ntl - 1m broadband for existing customers -

hi all

not sure if this is in the right place but i saw a story in the guardian this week (link here)
http://money.guardian.co.uk/phones/story/0,13283,1534329,00.html

`Upgrades to the latest offers are either never made or not clear, say the accusers. They only win a good deal if they threaten to leave.

Ntl denies the charges. It insists customers are made aware of broadband upgrades in particular.

But the company still has more than 200,000 people paying the old rates for the old service out of the 300,000 who signed up.

.....

When ntl launched a much faster 1Mb service he suggested he be upgraded to the new speed - which they agreed to.

When the company dropped the price to £9.99 for new customers, he was back on the phone to complain. He is now paying the lower price.

...`

anyway - i phoned up and easily upped my broadband speed, but was unable to get them to drop the price, so am now looking at moving over to sky anyway!

Moral of the story. Read posts fully before you respond. Many upsets are caused by misunderstandings!

SFBANKS- don`t assume everyone is out to criticise you. The post is full of positive comments. You started the negative ones!
BUFFY- read the posts carefully next time before you drop your foot in it. I`m sure IDIOT now understands your mistake and realises that you are not really so heartless.
IDIOT- Please understand that if the others had read your posts properly they wouldn`t have been so unfriendly towards you. If you think of any SCAMS that work, please let me know!

I suggest that you all stop bickering now, make friends and live happily ever after.

Ok - i sit corrected - and apologise to anyone i upset..... :-) (no offense meant to anyone at all...)

For those with hard-of-understanding.... I meant was "don`t listen to the negative people"
