RE: HMV Sale (cough)

I got (instore) the 2 disc version of "The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy" (movie) for £7.99 and I`m keeping my eye on the "Back To The future" set - also I saw the Indy Jones set for £19.22.

£5 DVD`s at Asda

At least in my local Asda Walmart (Basildon) - selected titles for £5 each.
I got "Die Another Day" 2 disc `Special Edition`; also available were the original "RoboCop, "Agent Cody Banks 2", "Legally Blonde 2", "Rocky" and a couple of others (sorry, I lost interest when I saw the Bond flick!)

RE: LOTR Return of the king Extended

Thanks for that! There is another egg on Disc 2 - same method (on the last page of chapters) - this gets you an MTV skit featuring Ben Stiller pitching several implausible sequels to Peter Jackson (from the MTV Awards 2004 - there is a clue to this one in the Appendix Credits, which thanks MTV for the footage!)

LOTR FOTR EE R2 £9.99

My local MVC had a small amount of the LOTR FOTR Extended edition 4 disc set for £9.99 today - they also had the same edition of TTT for £17.99.
I snapped up the former (bit of a no-brainer :)
Other MVC branches might also have this offer...

RE: HMV Sale.

My local branch (Basildon) had a huge selection of DVD`s on sale - a lot of the Disney`s for £10.99 etc. I picked up "North by Northwest" for £5.99 and the Collectors edition of "Groundhog Day" for £6.99 - and I could have had a Bill Hicks DVD for £6.99 but I`m running to a budget this weekend!

RE: spaced 2 £2.99

Well, it`s listed in the MVC sale section, and my order has been accepted (so far!), so hopefully it isn`t an error! :)
Thanks for posting this!

Cheapies at MVC

The Basildon MVC had a shelving unit full of cheap DVD`s and VHS (separate from their current sale offers)
I got "Snow Dogs" on DVD for £2.99, "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" for £3.99 - other titles included "Waynes World", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and some of the "Home Alone" sequels for £3.99.
Also, it`s worth looking amongst the regular sale stuff - I found a copy of "Saving Private Ryan" (sale price £7.99) with a £5.99 sticker on it - which was accepted at the till.

RE: So what have you bought/ordered this month (June edition)

The `Directors Editions` of the first two Star Trek movies - and only because CDWow had them REALLY cheap. Otherwise, I`ll just be looking for bargains, and saving my pennies for the R1 "The West Wing" sets.

RE: Simpsons S3 Audio Outtakes?

First of all, thanks for the link - not only did it let me hear the outtakes, but it also led me to some other features I didn`t know about!
The only one I can`t get to work is the "Radio Bart" deleted scene - but I`ll try again later.
The alternate commentaries are interesting - having one person talk about the episode is useful in that it cuts out some of the distractions on the multi-voice commentaries.

wossname, I thought the same at first, but when I tried it on my Sony, it worked fine. It`s probably different on divverent players, but when I press the number, it comes up on screen; pressing `enter` clears the number off and resets the menu - it doesn`t trigger the `Play All` option. Once you`ve pressed the last number, press `Enter` and it should take you to a new menu.

Now waiting for Season 4 on R2!

Simpsons S3 Audio Outtakes?

Can someone help please? I recently got The Simpsons Season 3 and on the back it mentions that there are "Audio Outtakes" from cast and guests - can anyone tell me where they are? I can`t find them anywhere...
I`d assumed they were in the `Special Features` sections, but I`ve looked on all the discs and not a trace can I find.

RE: Cheap CD/MP3 portable at Dixons

Sorry about that - I missed your post!
I think the `9 hours playback` probably refers to the battery life - I`ve got several MP3 CD`s with 10 hours or more (one has 13 hours of Lord of The Rings !) and had no problems playing it so far!
The headphones that come with it are ok - but you could do a lot better; I haven`t tried hooking it up to my hifi yet, but in theory the sound quality should be more than acceptable!

Cheap CD/MP3 portable at Dixons

In my local Dixons on Saturday there were Packard Bell PB-0P3 portable CD players, which can read MP3 recordings, at half price - £29.88
There was also the PB-0P4, which is the same spec, but with transparent panels on the lid, and no power supply (the PB-0P3 comes with both mains adapter and headphones)
The sound quality is pretty good - depending, of course, on the quality of the MP3 file, and there is a line out socket for connection to a hi-fi. Runs off 2 AA batteries, and if NiCads are used, plugging in the mains adapter will charge them up.

RE: WHS Clearance Bargains...

Basildon had lots of TV series box sets for half price - including Season One of Frasier for £14.99...

RE: WHS Clearance Bargains...

Last weekend I picked up "Up In Town" - a series of 10 minute monologues performed by Joanna Lumley that ran on BBC2 last year - it`s got extended episodes, commentaries, and all sorts of other extras - for £1.99 and "Hitler: Rise of Evil", starring Robert Carlyle (I think this was on the BBC earlier this year) for £2.99
These in the Basildon branch - I`ll be looking again this weekend to see if they have anything new.

RE: Lite-On PC DVD drive 16X

Just thought I`d offer an update!
The drive arrived this morning - and it`s the full retail box! With the drive was a cd containing PowerDVD XP.
It`s installed now and running well - the noise is something I can cope with!

Next step - Multi-Region!

Best wishes, and thanks again for your help and recommendations!

RE: Lite-On PC DVD drive 16X

Many thanks for all the help and advice! I have now placed an order for one and look forward to all sorts of fun installing it!
Best wishes,

Lite-On PC DVD drive 16X

Hi!
Jungle.com are currently offering a PC DVD drive made by Lite-On - model number LTD-163-02VH for £29.99 plus shipping.
This seems rather cheap, and I was wondering if anyone has used it? If so, is it worth getting? Also, is it multi-region or hackable?
Best wishes,
Paul Bines (a newbie to the world of DVD so please be gentle with me!)
