EZY and Devoted mport Duty

I`ve been looking through the other posts and it isn`t very clear to me how these guys work in terms of import duty. Do they mark the packages as "gifts" or do you have to pay customs if the oder is over a certain amount?

hello when ordering from ezy, if u tell them in the comments that it is a gift, they will mark it as one and therefore u will be allowed to get £36 worth of stuff thru in one go without paying any customs etc. I never have used devoted but it should be a similar thing. u might have to email them and tell them that its a gift.

If the stuff costs more than £36, we`ll have to pay import duty then?

u have to pay import duty 3.5% and Vat 17.5% on stuff over £18 or stuff over £36 if its marked as a gift.

Don`t forget you also end up paying a handling fee which the post office charge to collect the taxes! Best idea is just to keep below the limits and avoid any problems.

Karl.

I asked them to mark my last order as a disk. They didn`t but they put the value as $40 dollars Australian. I think that`s about £15. Maybe that works better, anyway no tax.
