Page 1 of LiteOn LVW5005 DVD Recorder Compatable Disc Urgen Help Needed!!!!

Hi

I have just ordered a LVW5005 DVD recorder and was wondering what makes of DVD blank media are compatable with this machine.

I`ve read a review saying that you can only record on certain makes of dvd`s I have a few Maxell DVD+R`s and I am wondering has anybody else used these on this machine and if you have do they work all right.

Much appreciate any body`s help who has one of these machines.

i have had one of these machines for about 6 months now and i havent found a disc that did not work with this machine.i bought a packet of maxwell dvd+rw from asda when i first got this machine to try it out and i am still using them now.i usually use infiniti or datasafe or ritek discs as they have all worked ok and they are not expensive. i have also tried cheap non branded dvds and they worked ok as well.generally speaking if you stick to branded discs you will have no problems with them.

hi there have got the lite on 5005.have got six packs of various brands of blank disc and they are all various formats eg dvd+r,-r,rw,cd-r etc.the machine has recorded on all of them no problem with perfect playback on itselr and other machines includin xbox and ps2.its even multi region,heres the code.go to setup,scroll down to exit,on remo press 2960.a hidden menu comes up,scroll up to region free then exit.job done.happy recording.hope this helps.

Thanks for your help about the DVD`s that are compatible on this recorder. It now means that I don`t have to go out and buy any new ones now because I have the Maxell +R`s which I have bought from Morrisons.

I had this two of those systems Both of them I got line across the bottom of the screen.
this don`t happen on all disks most of them it did.

Also set it back to region 2 so to check see if that was the reason still the same

my advices is don`t buy :/

I have use both formats in the Maxell DVD Discs the - and the + versions and they have all worked fine for me.

I still have it set as a region 2 recorder, but that`s only because I already have a DVD player set in the multi region format. I think when you set it multi region you sometimes lose some of the features of the recorder because I had a Philips DVDR80 which came as multi region, and I could never get the guide working on it.

So my advice to you all is to keep the Liteon LVW5005 as a region 2 and buy a cheap DVD player which can be made multi region, this way you should have no problems with this recorder. Mine is working fine and I haven`t modified it to multi region.
