LG DAT-200 (DVD, 5.1, Freeview) - Any help?

Hi,

Anyone got a LG DAT-200? It`s a DVD player with 5.1 speakers and amp AND a freeview box all in one! I`m tempted to combine all my boxes into one with this beast but it seems to be too new to have any reviews or opinions etc.

Press release here:

I`d like to know if there`s a RGB Scart on the back so I can connect to my TV. I`d like to know if it can be multi-region hacked. Bah! I`d like to know something about it, other than you can get it for about £240 at the moment!

Maybe I should ring LG :)

I`ve recently purchased an LG DAT-200 for £160 (www.empiredirect.co.uk). I`ll tell you what I can about it. It has one scart out for the TV, it also has two AV inputs (thats the two stereo and one video connections) and one AV output. So I`ve got my TV, video and gamecube all connected up to it making full use of the surround sound. It also has an optical input/output.

As far as the quality of the equipment goes I`m really pleased. However, I`m no audiophile and this is my first adventure in to the world of surround sound, so, at the price, I`m sure its not as good as can be. However, for my purposes its great, picture quality is good and the surround sound is fantastic.

Only had it a few days but my main niggles with it is the remote control, its so damn ugly considering the box itself looks superb . The response of the box when using the remote is a little slow too, plus you have to really direct the remote properly. Aslo, the EPG for the Freeview only has now and next. Hopefully this can be rectified with a firmware update in the future.

As a first step into surround sound and Freeview this beast was everything I could have wanted.
