Page 1 of To Chip or not to chip ?

My brother has a Panasonic A160 ( same as my 2nd machine )
He`s now decided after watching some of my region 1 discs that he wants the same facility.
Question is should he pay £ 50.00 to have an oldish ( but still mint ) machine chipped or buy a All sing All dancing cheapy at £ 80 -100 ?
What do you think good people ?

There`s some very nice little players that either come multi-region out of the box, or which can be easily made multi-region without chipping.

A personal recommendation is the LG 5083, a very tidy little player that will cost around £100. Easily hackable:

hey kywy, techtronics.com (who i can highly recommend) will chip your player for 17 quid.
And for that they`ll pick up and return the player to your door.
Check them out, they did a great job on my sony.

Rawshark, that would be the perfect solution.......except after checking the website, the fit and return price is £75.00 +V.A.T.

They sell a chip for £ 18.00 which you have to solder to the board yourself, but since my bruv could not hammer in a nail straight and I don`t want the blame if it stops working ,thats a no,no
