Problems hacking a Samsung 611...

Hi all,
I have a region 2 (european) Samsung 611 and I want to hack it to make it region free.
I`ve seen lots of websites with the sme hack, this one:

Power on your player
1. Press the Repeat button on your remote control
2. Using your remote control enter the code 3,8,7,6 and 7
3. The code 02 should be displayed on the screen indicating this is a Region 2 unit.
4. Press the 9 button on your remote control for Region free, or 1 for Region 1, 2 for Region 2 and so on.
5. Press the Open button on your player
6. Press the Standby button on your remote control


I have tried to make it, but it doesn`t wotk fine. Any of you know why is it possible?? Please help me!!!

Remote Hack



Information Regarding Hack
Before attempting to carry out the procedure below please Remove any disks from the drives tray

Please Note:

Hack Instructions
To make your player Multi Region follow the hack instructions below. - Good Look !!!

Using your remote control

This Hack will remove Macrovision
Perform the following Cold Restart if you are struggling with the hack

Switch the machine off, Press and hold the Play & Stop buttons on the player
Press Power button on the player to turn the machine on
You should now see a set of language options. Let go of the Play & Stop buttons
To make this player Multi-Region for one time only (Firmwares upto v3.26)

Press Power button on the player to turn the machine on
Refer to the area below on REMOTES and press the correct keys on the remote control you are using
The disc tray will eject and the word Adjust will show on the units display
Put a Region 1 disc in the tray
Close the disc tray
To make this player Multi-Region for one time only Firmware v3.27 upwards

Press Power button on the player to turn on the machine
Refer to the area below on REMOTES and press the correct keys on the remote control you are using
The disc tray will eject and the word Coldstart will show on the units displayl, you might see C5 02 2 on the display
Refer to the area below on REMOTES and press the SAME keys on the remote you are using TWICE very quickly. Please Note: on some remotes you might have to press the key three times
The tray should eject and the word Adjust will show on the units panel
Put a Region 1 disc in the tray
Close the tray
To make this player Multi-Region permanently

Complete steps 1 through 7 in the one time only hack
Press Setup
Go to the Display menu
Alter the brightness from Auto to Bright
To make this player Multi-Region permanently if the above steps do not work

Press Setup
Change the Parental Lock Password from it`s default of 7777 to 3521, If you are struggling look in the player instruction manual
Change the Parental Lock Level to 1,
Press Power to turn the machine off
Press Power to turn the machine back on
Put a Region 1 disc in the tray, Please Note: you might have to put an "18" Certificate film in to activate the parental lock
Close the tray
When prompted, enter Parental Lock Password 3521
Enter Setup menu again and disable the Parental Lock feature.

A few points on the above.

The simple permanent hack described first in this thread does not work on older firmware versions of some of the players particularly the Hitachi 305 (a Sammy 611 clone).

The so called AIWA hacks do work but cannot be made permanent as they could be on the Sammy 709. The Macrovision is not disabled on players other then the 709.

I hack my 305 using a OneForAll remote. I simply programmed the sequences onto the macro function - all I do now is simply press one button and it turns the player on, and switches it to multi-region. No problems.
