Can Pioneer DV 525 be made multi-regional via its remote?

Jason.Bullock (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 14th February 2001, 20:24

We`re really trying hard here to get this DVD to be multi-regional. Anyone got any ideas that aren`t to do with being chipped or software downloaded?

I bought a Pioneer DVD505 in Singapore some years ago and was shown a hack from the remote which works well!
It`s probably worth a try on the DV525

This is it!
1 REMOVE ANY DISK & THEN CLOSE.
2 PRESS `MENU`
3 PRESS `ENTER`
4 PRESS `DISPLAY`
5 PRESS AND RELEASE `CONDITION` AND IMMEDIATELY PRESS THE REGION NUMBER YOU REQUIRE. ( ie if you want region one then press 1). You should see the number change on screen
6 Press `MENU`

That`s it! You can ,of course, repeat the process as many times as you like

Good luck

Do you think that this hack might work on Pioneer515.
Is there any danger and can it go wrong. If anyone has any other info they can E-Mail me on yeladma[at]ten.eerfnaeco if they like.

Hi all,

Sorry to say that the hack posted is for modified players, specifically for the Paragon mod AFAIK.

The only way to make this a multi region player is to have it modded.

Hi,

Unless you are good at soldering then you would have to send it away to a firm like www.techtronics.com or www.upgradeheaven.com maybe.

Cannot remember but it is likely to cost around £80.

I bought mine from techtronics for £198 already chipped.

Hope this helps, shout for more info

Some sites offer a cheaper DIY chip but it`s only for the VERY experienced solderer

THANK YOU, :x

A thousand blessings! I have a Pioneer DV-525, when my Dad bought it a few years ago, he decided to pay the extra to have it chiped. Since then we have had to do the preceedure you described in order to play a different region disc. I, however, like a dunse lost the instructions when we moved house. Thanks to your help I am now hapily watching Karate Kid 2 on a region 1 disc as I write this,

Cheers Again, ;) carindy!

P.S. Sorry I cant help in regards to using this player, without a chip, to watch other regions, I believe it is impossible. :(

Thank You,

Bye
