Page 1 of stupidness .......greeeeeeeedy..........or both

on the local news today in stoke on trent a couple lost £30,000 to a company who
got a message[ email i think ] that they won 2 mill in the euro lottery and they had to
claim it with paying £30,000 ad min charges,
and they sent it......................

so who`s fault is it...........

we or everybody has heard of such scams and who in the right mind would
send money ,,

if you send out these emails and people reply what do people expect
or am i the one who doe`s think that if you fall for stupid things then you only have your self to blame....

It`s sad... these people are desperate, or naive, or a bit greedy.. who knows, it probably depends on a case to case basis..
It worries me that my nan might fall for something like this because she doesn`t hang around on the interweb with people (like me) who sn***** at phishing schemes and these sort of scams...
Do you know what I would do if I found one of those cheating c***s that ripped people off for that sort of money? I would kick them to death, and be glad about it..

also.. you might want to re-read your original post.. Dunno if you wrote it in a hurry, but a lot of it reads like a 419!

I would put money on them getting further into debt just to get the money to clear the debt.. Usually it is the people that can afford it the least that get caught up in these things...

You`re not alone in hoping you never get coned. Happened to me once. With Police cones. It was weeks before they removed the cones and I could move again.

The lads and I used to get coned all the time. It was a weekly thing. I even woke up with one in my bed once.

Didn`t matter what kind it was either. My mates even coned my mum once....... bastards.

yeah we all know about the various scams and cons, and we all wonder how people can be conned by these things every time it happens, from the elderly couple conned by some dodgy builder with the old `you have a loose tile on your roof` scam to the person caught out by the fake bank email/phone call asking for details and pin numbers but I suppose its easily done when your caught unawares

Then theres the `fool` who falls for the `youve won the lottery/car/holliday` send us £X admin fee scam, like what has been said already its usually the poeple who can least afford to pay the `fee` who are the ones who pay it, like the people who spend the most on the lottery or down at the bookies are the ones who can least afford to lose the money ..but if you spend £20 a week on lottery tickets your gonna win big one day ....right? :¦

surely if it was the poorest that got conned
and i undestand what you all say when you put "its nearly allways the ones that can`t afford get screwed", but it was not a few quid it was £30,000 and thats not small amount to have, you wouldn`t be the poorest to get your hands on that amount.
if it is you must have loads more than i could ever,

if some one screwed the poorest and that what`s these people go for i would have thought differantly,
but again £30,000 to send its got to be stupid to me
