Difference in quality??

WPKenny (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 15th March 2001, 09:58

Ok, here`s my set-up...
Scan SC-2000,
Old 20 inch 4:3 telly (PAL..obviously :)
DVD plays through SCART on video to co-ax on TV

I`ve only got R2 DVDs so far but because of the early release dates and some of the extras on R1 DVD`s I`m tempted to buy one or two. What I`d like to know is on the above set up will I notice much of a difference in image quality between R1 dvds and R2? Or is it only on high end equipment that these sort of differences are noticable?

Well Playing NTSC disc on a PAL only TV on a scan, you will get frame drops, and the colours will look a bit off, and the audio is more likly to go out of synchronisation. if how ever you have a TV that can take a NTSC video signal then it will be fine.

For all you answers to the scan player check ou the scan SC2000 Group

Before I got my new telly I was using a similar setup and had the Scan convert the signal to PAL - to be honest I never noticed any drop in quality at all.
