Problems with Play247

Has anybody else experienced problems with Play 24/7.

Order 1 : I ordered Jennifer Lopez CD from them on the 11/2/01. My account details said that it had been posted as of 12/2/01, but I did`nt receive the CD till a week later on the 20th, I even checked the item details, which stated that it ships within 24hrs. I phoned them and they said that it could be 3-5 days from when it was posted ... I thought, i`d give them the benefit of the doubt with this one ,as I was`nt in a rush.

Order 2 : I noticed that they were taking pre-orders fro the Snatch Region 2 DVD on their website on the 16th Feb, even though it was`nt due for release till 19th Feb, I rang them to find out what the procedure was, they said that as soon as the stock comes in on the 19th, it will be dispatched and I should get it within 24hrs of despatch, I thought fine, DVD for £17.99 cheaper than most other sites, i`d go for it so i pre-ordered it on the 16th Feb. I checked my account details on the site, it stated that it had been posted on the 16th Feb. I thought, great i`d get it early, to my amazement, a week passed and no dvd in site, i checked the link on my account details to track the dvd as it had been posted via recorded delivery.

the Royal Mail website said : Sorry, we are unable to report the progress of your item

I sent Play 24/7 a polite email relating my discontent with their service, they replied :

>===== Original Message From "play247.com" =====
>Hi there,
>
>We do apologise for the delay. The disc did leave for you on 16/02/01 and has obviously gone missing in the post. We have contacted the Post Office and they do not have any trace for the delivery. Would you prefer a refund or a replacement copy sending out?
>
>Once again we do apologise and if you have any problems please let us know.
>
>Kind regards
>
>PLAY

So they claimed that they had re-ordered and posted the DVD on 27/02, it is now the 5th March and still no DVD, and for some strange reason, the Royal Mail tracking system is again saying that : Sorry, we are unable to report the progress of your item

Now is this just me or is Play 24/7 really lacking these days, as this service is utterly disgraceful, and either there is a problem with there dispatch service or theire web page is telling little white lies ...... anybody else experienced any problems with them ??????????

erm

LOL!
is all i can say mate - ever considered that your address or something might be wrong? not saying yer thick or anything like that - just that the delivery goign wrong the same way twice might indicate a pattern!

so far i don`t know ANYONE with problems, everyone gets it within a week. certainly i`ve never had anything take longer than that. they`ve been exemplary so far

I`ve been ordering from them for a few months now, so address is not the issue as they have my details on my account, and I also ordered a region 1 dvd from them the previous week. But i still believe their statement of despatching within 24hrs is a bit slack !!

well i`ve spoken to them today, and they assure me that i should recieve this copy, they reckon 3-5 days from posting at the latest, which would be tomorrow, they`ve charged my account as well. cos it`s been 2 weeks now since i ordered it, i`m no longer in a rush to see it, i guess this will teach me to stop being so impatient. I could of gone to my local Tesco by now ..... But overall apart from these 2 blips, Play 24/7 has been fine, just a bit weird how a DVD can just get lost like this ....

For what its worth, I have ordered two DVD`s (on separate days) from them in the last week or so. Both disks arrived two days after I placed the order. Sounds as if you were just unlucky.

I ordered "The Up In Smoke Tour" DVD from play247 on Friday evening, in my hands Monday morning.

BTW, does anyone know when play247 introduced this "Track & Trace" system on their website?

It means I have to sign for my post which isn`t always gonna be easy for me as I work days and so usually miss the postie & nearly always involves a trip to the post office to collect my parcel, not good after a hard day @ work!.....Bummer!! :(

The problem is your eager to get it, the time it takes the Royal Mail to deliver a parcel is DIRECTLY proportional to how much you want it to arrive.

Everything I order from Maplin arrives next day, practically every time, right up until the point where I really want it to. ;-)

R2 discs from Play can get delayed because they send the R2 discs from Jersey. The problem with this is that their is only one small freight place to and from Jersey a day and it gets very full (Play are not the only company that ship packages from Jersey) so sometimes packages can be waiting 2-3 days before getting a place on the plane.

Out of interest how do they get the discs to Jersey in the first place? My guess is air drops, along with food and medical supplies for all the companies that work there for tax reasons. ;-)
