I`ve got a yamaha bws 50cc scooter that i`ve put a new exhaust on and everything seems ok at first.Today i was going to work and i go about 40mph and then the bike drops down about 35 and then back up again to 40 alomg dor a while the same thing happens again but with a backfire. To me it feels that the exhaust is causing a block. My old one never gave this of problem before .Does anyone have any idea`s.
many thanks

Did you replace the exhaust on a like for like basis or did you put a different make on if so you may need to"jet up" your carb also check your air filter is clean and your timing is ok 8)

Sounds as though your plug/plugs need changing. Should change them now after the damp Winter months.

Backfiring is sometimes caused by air getting in where it shouldn`t i.e. via a loose (or distorted )carburettor manifold, or split gasket, although that`s hard to see how that came about if you only changed the exhaust system. Might be worth checking to see how tight the exhaust manifold is though or how good the gasket is.
