RE: do you good people inU:K have220 v power? its a simple question....

UK supply is now rated at 230V AC.
And has been since the late 80`s to bring closer inline with europe.
But your local electricity supplier will tell you 230V AC with a tolarance
of + or - 10%.
eg.anything between 207V - 253V.
So I think you`ll be quite safe using a 220Vac appliance in the UK.

RE: AIWA 370 Best Connection?

Yes RGB is supported - but you normally have to have your scart connected to AV1.You may have to change the set up through the menu
on your TV so AV1 is set to RGB?
RGB is better that Svid but if you happy with the Svid connection and dont want to spend £30 for a decent scart cable stick with your Svid connection.
Would you notice big improvement with RGB over Svid? - probbably not.
Cheers
Jerry.

RE: Pitch Black

I noticed that the lip sinc problems as well - on two diferent machines -
so it`s not just your Sampo. This was a region 1 disc lent from a friend.
I think there`s a lot of crap mastering out there - with no body actually
watching the finished product.
Cheer
Jerry.

RE: DVD ROM DRIVES

check out this site:
http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/
and look in the dvd section for players that are not region locked or
are able to have their firmware updated.
Remember that if you are not running on a fast machine eg.PII 400
you will need a decoder card as well.

RE: JVC 521,522 or 523

Mp3`s sorry no.
I look at this player but couldn`t find a review on any British site - only
American one`s.Same player I suppose but the reviews were rather mixed.
Liked the idea of Macrovision defeat as well.
But if you want Mp3 go for the LG or Aiwa.

If you do go for the JVC please put up a reveiw.

Cheers
Jerry.

RE: Aaaargggh ....hed have sold out of Aiwa

Sorry for the delay in replying.
The Patriot jumped in several places - duff disc?.No - played OK on my
Ati software on the computer.
And the Aiwa had no problems either.
The only thing against the Aiwa 370 that I`ve noticed so far is some disc`s
take a while to load.eg.Disney.
If I encounter any other problems I`ll keep you informed.

Cheers
Jerry.

RE: Aaaargggh ....hed have sold out of Aiwa

Yep The Patriot plays with the region set as 0.
Also all my discs that had suffered problems with other machines(Yelo 800/Hitachi 505)seem to play OK.
Not noticed any banding or background problems either.
Sound is great with mp3 as well.
Pay the extra and get it from Comet you won`t have to wait for it to arrive.
Also who knows it the next batch will have the same firmware and hack will still work.
