RE: Daewoo owners, please help!!

(I assume rvb = RGB)

I can confirm the RGB picture quality on my DHC-2200K is excellent, slightly better than s-video (although there`s not much in it).

Pixellation? I`ve noticed slight blocking during low contrast scenes (underwater in R1 Deep Blue Sea for example), but nothing major. I am going to test the 2 or 3 examples I have with other players to determine whether there is a slight problem, or whether I`m just being too picky and looking too hard :)

RE: update to SCAN 2000 DVD UPGRADE

What size is the image?

Why not FTP it somewhere (hell, even geocities would do) and let everybody get a hold of it, no?

RE: Daewoo owners, please help!!

Well I`ve had my Daewoo (DHC) for a week or so now and I can`t fault the little silver beastie. I`ve tried a number of R1 & R2 discs and picture quality is not an issue (except on R1 Deep Blue Sea for some reason, I assume dodgy encoding).

Happy to report the hack works like a charm and, contrary to some reports, the macrovision disable is still available after bypassing the region check. I`m also glad to see that all regions can be selected (handy for any `tricky` titles :)

A friend with a Wharfedale couldn`t believe the speed and lack of noise from the unit, and as a bonus it looks ace next to all my other gear, unlike some players I can mention :)

RE: Daewoo player at Argos - not the same as Scan?

Am I right in thinking that the cd that upgrades the firmware on the Scan should also work with the Daewoo?

Now I`ve had a chance to try the machine I must say I`m impressed. Mucho fastness (certainly better than the old Tosh I used before) and the MP3 function is great (one of the main reasons I bought the machine). Not tried any R1 discs yet (have to wait on mail order) or the dts output but it`s a good looking machine and the picture on my Sony KP41S3 is tremendous.

Daewoo player at Argos - not the same as Scan?

Went and got one of the Daewoos from Argos the other day and was told that it *may* only have 1 scart socket. Got home and confirmed that it was missing one. Not really a problem for me as I use an S-Video cable and have nothing to plug into the scarts anyway but I`m going to take it back as it may have had other changes to it that will affect me like the region hack. If they can`t sort me out with one of the older models then I guess I`ll have to get the Scan.

Also the box and manual make great play about it only playing R2 discs, I assume all players are sold like this? :)

RE: Scan DVD Player Any Good ?? What about Daewoo?

Well, although I`ve no problem with Scan (dealt with them sucessfully before) I`m plumping for the Daewoo if only for the silver casing (matches my VCR :)

It`s also cheaper once you figure in the delivery from Scan.
